i'm sure this line is worn out on this topic yet it rings true in my situation.
in my 24 mos post, despite my chronic pain, i have managed to veer off my discharge meds consisting of oxycontin, oxycodone, reduced neurontin, and several others which i forget. however, i used actiq for break thru pain and got to cozy with it. as reported in 'cure' my nerve pain has significantly increased since my oeg transplant from dr huang. the pain includes extreme burning sensation of my limbs and buttox. i have no pain-free days, zero. the actiq compounds constipation and blockages. this worsens the burn and causes accidents galore. i am experiencing more rectal sensation which seems to exascerbates the problem.
i hate the narcotic addiction.
can anybody suggest another means of pain control? [i've been to a pain management professional without luck]

what is it when the burning pain attacks by engulfing your limbs and backside creating a 'stop the world' level of pain? if i'm on the chair i just want to get off it and jump out of my skin. i can only relate it to a pre-sci severe sun burn.
i try to combat it with a fentenyl-actiq pop. i'd say maybe 75 percent of the time the pain will diminish a few levels, and then, the nasty side effects start doing their thing. digestion comes to a halt, and my stomach expands like a helium balloon. the stomach gas creates its own form of pain by pushing on my bladder so i leak. i try to counter this by consuming colate laxative. it kinda stabilizes me with a bearable pain level, gas pressure, a continuing discomfort of liquid noisily traveling thru my intestines.
that is of course until the cycle shortly repeats itself.
fun eh?

I feel the same as you TimC, like jumping out of my skin I burn so bad. Paxil has taken the edge off but that is just another drug to become dependent on and like you I would like to stop taking everything I'm on. It does help Tim and you will feel the difference (if it works for you) with the first 25mg pill.
It is a hard life to stay sane while in such pain and to constantly be looking for new kinds of relief.
Stay strong

I can feel ya'll on the burning pain tip. I abosolutely can't stand it. I think it turns me into a pissed off cavewoman. I take amytriptiline and neurotin. I spell the first one wrong. I thought it was working then the past month and a half it's been like fire on my lower legs. I want to cry about it. But that helps absolutely zero. What are we to do? My doc asked if I wanted to try something for it, but I'm sick of medicine. I told him no. If I try to take a nap it's flamin. Is there no rest for the weary???

I'm beyond sick of the 24/7 burning body, bones sticking through back, and pulling skin when I move or breathe. Seating instability due to scoliosis only aggravates everything. But nothing has worked in 23 years, and the pains and curve only get worse. There is no comfortable position, sitting or laying. This is no way to live.

Tim, if you take a narcotic pain med, you MUST take laxatives. I believe I once posted on this site a note from a pain doc who used to post in the Usenet chronic pain newsgroup. A search for "Dr. Work" should find it (if not, it should be in my stuff directory somewhere, and I'll post it fresh.)
