still having a real battle here just when i thought i was making a advance , tried the gauntlet of of medicines neurontin, gabitril, zonegran, now at 300 of topomax a day. i use it for neuropathic pain in my foot , it stops most of the pain , however my foot now is so tender i can no longer apply any pressure to it , and it is extremely sensitive. i never had this problem before, it was always a constant numb fronst bite feeling when a applied pressure to it.
what other medicines could i try ?

i was walking/limpin short peroids, as i have foot drop, and my ankle doenst work, plus my toes dont move, and my calf muscles dont work basicaly from the knee down the muscles dont work, i limp walk; use a brace sometimes, usually try to use a high top shoe , and ride a BikeE recumbent bike in NYC. its my mobility device...i have a strong right side that compensates. plus i have neurogenic bladder that neurontin will force me back on self cath/bowel dysfution
or i have to stay inside, winter is approaching and i am not sure what i am going to do.
my foot on neurontin, zonegran, gabitril always felt frost bitten, or frozen, mostly numb when i was on it, uncomfortable but not extreme painful. i would take ultram usually for daytime breakthough pain and maybe percocet at night if the pain woke me up at 1 am. but i usually only needed the ultram 2 or 3 times a week , now on the topomax, i cant even apply pressure to my foot
and have to take ultram 3 or 4 times a day just to walk 100 feet from car to desk to home and have now became homebound because of this. i never had this problem on the other meds, and it seems to be more oversensation. i dropped my dose to 100 mg a day fm 300 a day and it feels a lot better, but havent really tried to walk or go back to my normal every day activities yet. maybe tomorrow . the reason i havent been running to jump to go back on the other medications, is the topomax at least doesnt make me sleepy, i wake up ok in the morning, i have more energy, my brain is clearer, and i have my balls back. on neurontin and the other meds i found myself to lethargic, and scared/weepy and unable to defend myself with these disabilities challanges i am no facing at work. neuronin disabled my brain too much to enable me to get treated correctly in the work enviroment, i find with the topomax, i have been able to get some letters written to EEO and PVA and am making headway in my struggle to keep my employment with dignity. its tough brain disabled or body disabled.

PARESTHESIA
PARESTHESIA : Numbness, prickly sensations without point specificity, or abnormal hypersensitivities, all local to one part of the body, and without an obvious cause.

Your foot falling asleep is paresthetic, but not paresthesia, the cause is you sat funny.
