topomax

now my doctor wants me to try topomax. running the gauntlent here neurontin 2 years 3200 a day, gabitril, zonegran and now topomax.
i am getting to thew point that i 'd rather take the narcotics, at least i feel a bit beeter with the side effects

Hi there

I am currently taking neurontin 1200 3xday, oxycontin 40 3xday and amitrtiptyline 75nightly. My pain doctors tried me on topomax in the hope I would be able to reduce some of the stronger ones. I started on 50mg and slowly worked up to 250 per day. I found it had no effect on the pain at all. I also found that it severely effected my speech and concentration. At only 100mg per day I was like a walking zombie. I was unable to finish my sentances and my mind was just blank. It was funny at first but the joke wore off and the frustration set in. I started to reduce from 250mg and am now off it all together. Apparently it has very little side effects and is an anti epileptic like neurontin.
I would happily swap the oxycontin if the topomax worked for me.

well i just got the prescription filled for it . not even sure if i want to take it, so tired of those side effects, i seem to be doing pretty well now just taking ultram 3 to 4 times a day and 100 mg of zonegran in the evening...
i hate that confusion feeling
