i just finished about 10 days of zonegran at 300mg in the evening, at first it seemed to be ok, but than i realized i had this horrible heat sensitivity, and got the same lethargic reaction of the 3200 mg a day of neurotin i was on. the urine retention was better on the zonegran than neurontin, gabitril seemed to have the best of less retention. gabitril also gave me extreme heat sensitivity , i started at 32 mg than 16 than 8 and than they put me on zonegran.
now i stoped the zonegran on my own, since it was making my thinking confused, plus the heat sensitivity taking ultram as needed for the pain, probably find out in a couple days how bad the pain really is. i was down to about 4 mg a day of gabitril and the pain wasnt to bad, except at night, but even with the zonegran at 300mg the pain in the day was ok , at night i still needed 2percocet or ultram.
so maybe just try the narcotics for awhile, see if the anti epilaeptics are really doing much more than screwing up my brain.

I tried zonegran for two weeks taking 100mg three times a day. Started off at 100mg a week slowly getting up to 300mg which I stayed on for two weeks and then stopped because of the side effects that I kept reading about, but did not have. When I would lay down, my left wrist would really hurt and my arms really burn. When I got to the 300mg, the wrist & arms stopped hurting. Didn't stay on it long enough to see if it would help my back, butt or legs from burning. When going off all the pain returned. It helped me but just didn't trust any of the side effects or chance of seizures.
