Have any of you with central pain had an outpatient procedure where you were administered IV Versed-the "twilight" drug where you don't remember what happened? It's not the same as general anesthesia. What I have found interesting is that I had at least 50% relief of pain, including the crushing, gripping, hardening cement on the lower half of my body. This relief lasted 8-10 hrs after my IV was removed. I relayed this anecdote to a researcher at MD Anderson and I was told there is an upcoming intrathecal study of Versed (can't remember the generic name) sometime this summer. I don't qualify since I don't have a pump in place, but I find this study encouraging and who knows-maybe next yr I can try a single intrathecal bolus or something. I also still want another baclofen trial. I've read enough here and there to believe baclofen isn't just for spasticity, but pain as well. Anyone here notice any effect on your pain if you had Versed administered? Just curious. Or for that matter, does baclofen help, oral or intrathecal?

Just returned from MD Anderson cancer center where my husband had a stem cell transplant. At another hospital, he sustained a spinal cord injury after being in ICU for 11 days 9 in a diprovan coma. He suffers from incredible bilateral arm pain although his paralysis has decreased. He now asks for versed whenever he has an esophageal stretch and says he too gets the same type of pain relief. Take care, hope you get relief soon. Teresa

I know that versed does have a quality to induce a sort of amnesia..it is often used in pre-op settings to relax patients. I had some last year and did not remember any of the activities that happened between the push of the drug and the time that I woke up after surgery.
