I've really had a lot of questions answered clearly since I found this Forum than I've ever had from my Doctors. I think they are taught a course on how to disappear before patients can remember the questions they want to ask. You told me the diff. between Morphine and Demerol, how about Darvon and Darvocet. I was taking 2 darvocetN-100 every 4 hrs, plus a 100mg fentanyl patch changed every 3 days for a variety of pain and A.D. troubles. He recently made me alternate darvon with darvocet every 4 hrs. The darvon doesn't seem to do much except dry up my mouth. When I have a bad day I've been tempted to go with darvocet all the way. On a good day I can stick to straight darvon, sometimes neither. What is the diff between the 2. You seem to frequent the pain forum. Are you a pain specialist by training or experience or both? I've spent tons of my money and the V.A.'s money on seating and positioning but to little avail. Thanks for the time. It's getting late, but I have the weekend to come back and ask more tomorrow.

Darvon contains aspirin, whereas Darvocet contains acetominophen (Tylenol.) Both are for mild to moderate pain.

For medication info, check www.rxlist.com (http://www.rxlist.com).

Thanks for the vote of confidence WR but it was KLD who explained the difference between Morphine and Demerol. Hopefully David Berg, one of the spinal nurses or Dr. Young will read this and address your other concerns.

Although I have a lay persons interest in health and medicine and am a frequent poster of articles in this forum, I am by no means experienced enough to offer professional advice. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif
