I believe it will take an implanted pump to administer Ziconotide, but if it works it may be worth it.

From Dr. Skaredoff on pain.com today:

"On the horizon (to be launched next year) is the centrally acting inthrathecal medication ZICONOTIDE (Prialtâ„¢--Elan pharma), which is a naturally occurring N-type voltage-sensitive calcium blocker derived from a poison, secreted from marine sea snails. Studies suggest that intrathecal ziconotide produces
analgesia by blocking neurotransmitter release from primary nociceptive afferents terminating in the superficial layers of the dorsal horn in the spinal cord. Clinical studies have also been encouraging."
