On the Nurses PDR website there's some excellent information on Neurontin (gabapentin). One thing that stands out is the one warning listed under Drug Interactions.
"Drug Interactions: Antacids / Bioavailability of gabapentin Cimetidine / Renal excretion of gabapentin"

If antacids make Neurontin less effective, then I hope that information is being shared by the doctors and pharmacists.
