I had the baclofen spinal on Tuesday. Everything went well, except, I HATED how limp and useless my legs were. I felt so helpless and could not stop crying. So, I have notcompletely ruled out the BP, but would like to only have it as a last LAST resort. The pump is SO BIG and would be so obvious on my, I think even through my clothes.

Now, I'm on Zanaflex 2mgs in the morning - which I cannot do again b/c it makes me SO tired - and 6 mgs at night. I woke up alone at 5AM this morning w/my leg drawn up in the "sitting position" and try as I might, I couldn't get it down. It was terrible.

What about Skelaxin? I read on another message board about this. I have tried before, but maybe I was on too low a dose for it to be effective? I just don't know. My leg twitching andcontracting is making my life a living hell.

In all honesty, I probably would go the BP route if it weren't so obtrusive, but I suppose I could look past -- I have full sensation and I would think it would be terribly uncomfortable. Plus, it's just so time consuming.

If I do nothing, it'll continue just getting worse http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif

Any advice, please???

Hi, Andrea, Wish I was there to give you a hug!!!
Matt's legs were totally limp right afterwards, also; give it a while, and as your dosage gets adjusted up/down, you can get the tone you want in your legs. It was really scary, though, at first, for Matt and for us, to have his legs be so floppy.

Also, the pump won't protrude as much after a while; remember, there's a little swelling from the surgery, and the pump and your muscles/fascia/skin need a little time to adjust. Matt's pump really stuck out at first, but as time goes on, it's less and less; still there, but not nearly as obvious as at first.

Why are you on Zanaflex?

Hi Andrea,

I am sorry that your spinal test was disappointing. After the surgery it will take a couple of weeks to get the right dosage that minmizes the spasms and still provides you some tone. My son is working hard to get back more of his strength; however,he can sleep, get through the day without the hell of the spasms. Ask about the smaller pump.

Good luck.

Take Care, Alice

sorry your in pain. Im on Zanaflex 3x a day too. i wake up to my legs in teh "sitting"position EVERYDAY! i know its terriable. they are starting me on Dantrium..one bad side effect is LIver Damage..great, thats all i need. With all teh medicine and science out there, you would think they would "just get it" by now and figure out what med does what and keep it simple.

What level are you?
Good luck my friend!
