Ok..just had another fun rainy day. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif When I break my chair down and it's raining I might as well throw myself and my chair in a pool. Me getting wet is no big deal, easy to fix. But, when my cushion and back gets soaked it's no fun. Is scotch guarding the cushion a good or bad idea? I'm not sure if this is a stupid obvious answer. But, ya never know. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

What kind of fabric is your cushion cover? What type of cushion?

I have a Varilite cushion. I think the cover is some type of mesh fabric.

A light spray of ScotchGuard would not hurt, but it would probably not keep the cushion cover dry either. A heavy coat is likely to cause stiffening of the fabric, which could decrease the pressure reducing properties of the cushion. It might be better to just get an extra cover and keep it in the car for those rainy days.

This is what I was thinking. sigh...is it me or does having an SCI always seem to indicate that any and all shortcuts or attempts to make things easier are automatically out of the question?

How about just putting a plastic shopping bag over the back and cushion while in rain (transferring) and remove once you get in car and/or to your destination? Should remain on the chair even while breaking down the chair, so might be cheap and easy solution, possibly?.

ahhh now there's an idea, Chick. I could just slip a grocery bag (and I have a ton of them...I always keep them "just in case"..whammm! here is my case!) over the back and cushion before I go out the door. Simple solution. I can do that. thanks.
