Any thoughts on how to get into the boat off a pier? The little finger pier is too narrow for the chair and too "tippy" to scoot out and do a transfer board?

The finger pier is about 2 ft wide and 15-20 feet long. Anchored at one end to the dock and to a piling at the other end. It floats and is very unstable. I actually fell in (how cool am I?) on Sunday trying to work something out. The dock that the boat backs up to is stable and wide enough for the chair, but with a swim platform on the boat you can't get the boat close enough for a transfer board to reach. This is a real disappointment and I've got to find a way to solve. I had been selling boating hard, i.e., "we don't have golf, biking, etc., so what, we've still got boating and that was your favorite anyway".
