Isn't that the point? So people recognize it? Otherwise, Cunucks shouldn't even bother. What's the difference with their new jersey?

Here's our jersey with the orca, the third jersey is retro the vintage stick & rink with Johnny Canuck on shoulders.

I was kind of skeptical of Rypien cracking the 4th line over Brown (I am a huge Brown fan). But after those 2 beauty goals and him turning Brandon Prust's head into a punching bag, I have to say I am pretty impressed. That kid switches hands in a scrap perfectly....I love how he always starts with the left jab. Pyatt is looking like dead weight to me..hoping he is packaged in a trade. Would love to see Ouellette on that 2nd line but I am not sure if he has to clear re-entry waivers...

Yeah, I love the Rypper, hope he keeps it up, he's turned into an all around player, not just a scraper.:D

Yup, Pyatt, man why won't this guy use his bod, it boggles the mind, he has all the potential to be a real power forward, but only shows spurts  Funny how when Demitra got here he said he wanted to play with Pyatt, wonder if he's changed his mind..lol...

Yeah, Ouellette sounds decent, I don't get why he was disposed of so quick...something we don't know

Dear Parents and Coach...

Well, another hockey season is here
So I am writing to you for just one reason
Please don't scream, curse or yell
Remember I am not in the NHL
I am only 11 years old
I can't be bought, traded or sold
I'm not looking for Hockey Fame
I just want to have fun and play the game
Please don't make me feel as if I committed a sin
Because sometimes my team didn't win
I don't want to be that great you see
I'd rather play and just be me
And so, in closing, here is one tip
Remember, the name of the game is . . .
Sportsmanship

Arsehole! That must be the new West Coast word or something cuz every second word out of my brother's mouth was arsehole. We had great fun riding my step dad who decided to root for Toronto just to piss us off. Ha! Nothin like family bonding over turkey and hockey. :)

So, the Habs got 5 out of six points opening on a road trip... Tanguay's fitting nicely... Price has to work on his glove side and getting caught outside of the net. Looking pretty sharp though!

100 years! I wonder if I can get some tix to the all-star game. That would be awesome.

http://cdn.nhl.com/blues/images/upload/2008/11/bailout_header.jpg

We know the economy is bad and that it's not easy paying your mortgage while also trying to buy Blues tickets, so we've come up with the Fan Bailout Plan, which is designed to help you do both. The Blues' Fan Bailout Plan offers three alternatives to save you money, help you pay your mortgage and still leave you with enough to see the Blues at Scottrade Center.

Fannie & Freddie Mortgage Saturdays*
At every remaining Saturday home game this season, one lucky fan will have their mortgage or rent paid for four months! A fan will be randomly selected during the game, and all you have to do is be at Scottrade Center when your seat is called. Hold on to your ticket stub and watch for an announcement that you've won. Read the Official Rules & Regulations (http://blues.nhl.com/tickets/promotions/bailout_rules.htm).

Lower Bowl Tickets Just $25
For each game this season, 500 seats in the plaza level will be discounted and available for just $25 per ticket. Tickets can be purchased at the Scottrade Center Box Office or participating Ticketmaster locations. Get them fast...once they're gone, they're gone for good.

Upper Bowl Tickets Just $11.20
Sponsored by KMOX 1120 AM
For each game this season, 500 seats in the mezzanine level will be discounted and available for only $11.20 per ticket. Tickets can be purchased at the Scottrade Center Box Office or participating Ticketmaster locations. Don't wait long. Only 500 are available for each game!

Free Food Game
The Free Food Game is back for the third consecutive year. Come to the game and eat for free...another way to save money!

I never turn off a canucks game...but I couldn't stand to watch anymore of the oil game after the 2nd period. Besides us losing, I thought it was a pretty boring game - minus the 3 tilts.

The sad thing about Sean Avery is that I think he is actually a good hockey player - too bad it sounds like he is a cancer in the dressing room. I don't mind all of the on-ice antics, he is a pest, it is his job to get under nerves....you just can't have a guy in the dressing room that will split a team....

With Sundin, we can now put together a legitimate 2nd line (or 1a, 1b line, if I may) that will hopefully take the top checking lines away from the twins. And hopefully Alain will now start playing even more open...we have seen a bit of a change this year with the points starting to pinch in a heck of a lot more to be more aggressive.

I thought the Oil were going to come out a little stronger after that 9-2 spanking....ouch.

But, I am getting to go to my first 'Nucks game ever! Flying out in March for 3 games, i'm stoked!!!! Looking forward to cheering with the home crowd for once. And I get to see our kid Hodgson play Tuesday night...the Jr's are playing an exhibition game against Slovakia.

I was actually hoping for a 3 way trade I had conjured up on the premise he was going to the Rangers, they needed cap space we picked up D & traded to Sens cause they're in need and we got Heatley or Spezza for 3yrs.:D,,,but oh well I'll take Sundin I guess, even though I'm sick of seeing his big mug already. My bad for going to TSN etc. every day waiting for something to happen. At least the saga's over.:applaud:

What I do really like is the $5.2 million (pro-rated and he took a $1 mil+ cut)for the remainder of this season and it still leaves us nearly $3 mil to pick up a $6 mil top 6.:applaud:I also likew the fact it's only 1 yr, I'd be really pissed if it was 2yrs and he retired after 1 and we would be on the hook for the 8.6mil.
Ithink the twins will flourish now knowing they aren't expected to pull the load. 3 good lines rolling..a healthy D, a healthy Bobby Lu, another top 6 by deadline, I'll be happy. Not to many teams can boast rolling 3 good lines, an awesome D core and a world class goalie. :D

I can't remember the last time I enjoyed the Jr's like this, nevermind Jr's, hockey period. What friggin games, first the US, then Russia last night..WOW. :applaud:What awesome hockey, after the game I put it on the Oil & Stars and it sucked compared to to the Jr's, I turned it off..lol...

I'm so pumped about Hodgson, he's an all around leader. You can sure see why the hype on Taveres too..wow...

Can't wait till tomorrows game yeah baby! Hope it matches up to those last 2 games, pleeease...it could be incredible..best ever already, felt like we won the gold last night..lol...I haven't seen any Sweden games, I'm sure they're good too, they always are.

I hope todays medal game is good too, the US team is great, they just ran into the Slovac hot goalie...bummer.....

That was a game for the ages. Canada would score and Russia would match. But even with that go-ahead goal by Russia late in the game, you knew Team Canada would do something, anything to tie.

Hodgson is something else. So strong along the boards as well as a creative mind offensively.

Yeah yeah.....I watched the game with my boys, and instructed them to NOT be like him...it was funny as crap. Never seen a player get bitched-slapped to the ice before. Lordy... BUT..at least he was facing the guy, not chicken shit hittn him. Crosby is still a pussy till he actually can man up a player. Ok, so hockey is back for me in Chicago. I said a few years ago I would not be a Hawks fan until their owner "Dollar" Bill Wirtz sold the team or died. One of the original six who made the playoffs for 27 years in a row in the 90s (a record at that time in all of sports) hadn't made the playoffs for years and a place that sold out every game for decades was over half empty are only a few of the problems I had with the the Hawks. I never want to see anyone die but he passed on last year and left the team to his son Rocky Wirtz and that day I became a fan again. Here's a few things they have done:

- They hired John McDonough the marketing guy away from the Cubs
- Signed some good young talent
- Brought back Pat Foley the best announcer in all of sports who old Dollar Bill should have never have fired
- FINALLY put home games on TV even after decades of sellouts before they got really bad and people stopped coming
- Hired Stan Bowman as Asst GM
- Brought back some of the older Black Hawk legends and honored them at games

Results
- The Hawks have the largest home attendance in the NHL
- Kane led the Western Conference in All Star voting and Toews and Campbell make the starting lineup (you can argue with the choices but the Hawks fans really came out and are showing an interest)
-49 points and 21-8-7 is not bad with 4 losses to the Red Wings and they should make playoffs
- 2 goalies playing pretty well should bode well deep in the season

Ok, so it might sound like a bit of bragging but growing up a die hard fan listening to games on the radio with my Dad when I was a kid and then losing all interest its pretty cool to see how fast a team you loved can come back.

Gold again!!! :applaud:I must say though I was shocked Hodgson wasn't named MVP, he was everything to that team. Down right pissed I was! Here's part of MacKenzie's blog on TSN, he felt the same way, he summed it up nicely:

"If I was given a vote for Canada's best forward in the tournament, it would go to Cody Hodgson.
Let's get the disclaimer out of the way. I love John Tavares and I have no problem with him being chosen as the top player in the tournament. I've been watching him since he was a little kid, he is a tremendous athlete and he had a phenomenal tournament, but for me the best all-around player and the tournament MVP was Hodgson.

Hodgson did everything for Canada. He scored goals including an enormous one in the Gold medal game, but it was more than that. No matter who he was playing against, be it the Americans, Russians, Swedes, he was absolutely terrific. I'm sure that he logged more minutes than any Canadian forward by the time it was all said and done. He was the offensive engine of this team, whether it be at even strength with Jordan Eberle and Zach Boychuk or making Tavares look great with perfect cross-crease passes on the power play.

Although I was blown away by his play, I was not surprised. Going into this tournament I absolutely believed that he would be Canada's best all-around player and he did not disappoint. The Vancouver Canucks got a steal by choosing this kid 10th overall pick. Hodgson is all character and as mature a young man as you can find.

He has played for Canada in major international competitions on three occasions. The first was the Ivan Hlinka Under-18 tournament where he was the best player. He showed more character and leadership than anyone on that team that included number one draft pick Steven Stamkos. He was also the captain for Pat Quinn at another Under-18 tournament and he was once again the best overall player for Canada. With this tournament he is now three-for-three with the Maple Leaf on his chest." http://www.tsn.ca/blogs/bob_mckenzie/?id=262109

I can't wait to see him in Nuck colors!

MG - I liked what they were doing but I needed to see some results. To be honest I was so mad I thought it would take making or maybe even winning the Cup to get me back. But, they exceeded my expectations with their efforts and the results are starting to pay off.

christopher - you forgot the Celtics...

Van Quad - I think Pullie is in some kind of executive role in the Wirtz Corporation and has no day to day management in the Hawks. It was so weird watching what happened to this team and how they continued to spiral downwards for over 10 years especially with the resources they have - Chicago is not a small market and they had decades of straight sellouts so there was no reason for what happened. I'm glad the nonsense is over,

I was sucked back in when the old man died as well. It was right after I got outta rehab (RIC). The tv was my best friend for a short time. Listening to Steve Dahl talk about how much he enjoyed being at the games helped seal the deal. I looked foward to watching the Hawks on tv again. I went back to RIC for a 2nd look and was able to go to a game with my roommate. Hawks beat the Wings and still had a shot at the playoffs. Lots of goals. It was a blast. Making arrangements to go again on the night they have the sled hockey.

Hockey fans are witnessing a new discussion of whether hockey should outlaw fighting. The 'have never played a game' faction points to baseball, football, and basketball and says: "they don't fight". But those athletes don't have frozen sticks stuck in their guts.

I'm with Don Cherry. If I can't drop my gloves then my stick will do the retaliating

They also feel that there is a segment of society, especially in Canada, that loves to pick on hockey. These people scream that a death from fighting in the NHL is inevitable. "Must someone die to make the NHL see reason?" etc. etc.

Come on sing it with me.."It's the most wonderful time of the year" It's here girls & boys, yeah baby! :friday:

So if my memory serves me (which is not very well) we have quite a few teams here that are in for the quest of the coveted Lord Stanley. :first: Well except of course..you guessed it the :hahaha:Leafs. Gee...I almost feel bad for poor Shaun. Also just out last night the Oil, that's a bummer, I was really pulling for them, 1st round anyway..just because...Sorry NQ.:( Then there's the Sens, wow what a shocker that was, who woulda thunk it going into the season...Wonder whatever happened to Nate..remember him?

Anywho, fellow puckheads on here for these teams: Hawks (looks like we'll meet in 1st), Caps, Canes (wow where did they come from all of a sudden 9-0?) Ducks and Habs (unless they lose remaining games) and of course the best team of the bunch the Nucks.:applaud:

So Steve, Graybeard, JDR, WC, GV, Chris, VQ, etc are you guys still here and ready for the best playoffs yet? I hope you are, I'm stoked as hell..yeah baby....:bounce: It will be tough though, theres no Leafs to trash talk, nor will there be for a few yrs if then, they'll prolly never make the playoffs again...LOL...You can always hop on the Nucks wagon Shaun...:nana:

Hopefully there's some new guys around here that are puckheads..jump in if you are.........

Child Saves Man’s Life in Bay Area Restaurant

Fri Apr 17, 2009 11:11am EDT

San Jose (Reuters) – A 12-year old boy is being hailed as a hero for his actions in a San Jose restaurant yesterday afternoon.
The boy was dining with his parents at the up-scale ‘Loft Bar & Bistro’ on Second St., when a man began to choke on a piece of steak he was eating. The man’s face began to turn red as he pointed frantically at his hockey jersey.

Luckily for the man, 12-year old Steven Cooper knew what to do.

“I saw the man point to his Sharks jersey” recalled Steven. “I knew from past years that around late April anyone wearing a San Jose Sharks jersey is prone to choking, so I suspected he was in trouble.”

The boy proceeded to run across the restaurant and administer the Heimlich maneuver.

“That boy saved my life.” Said the man, wishing not to be identified. “This Sharks jersey is better than a giant sign that says ‘help me I am choking in late April.’”.

Several Sharks players, who were getting a pre-game drink, witnessed the event. Patrick Marleau, the Sharks captain, had a front row seat for the heroism.

“This kid came from nowhere, what a hero.” Marleau stated. “I wish I could prevent choking like that,” He added.
Sharks goaltender Evgeni Nabakov was also in attendance.

“That child, so brave!” Said the goalie as he mishandled his butter knife, dropping a dinner roll that hit the ground and rolled slowly between his feet as he attempted to stop it. “Darn, that always happens to me”.

Cooper’s parents said they raised the boy as a Sharks fan, and that may have been the best decision they ever made. “Only a boy used to so much choking would have been able to save that man, and little Stevie has been around choking his entire life.”

Great game. Games 6 & 7 were both awesome. Now if they meet up next year that would be a bad ass series.

Poor Hossa, played for the Penguins win they lost and this year played for the wings and they lossed. Lmao.

I'll tell ya, I'm a little surprised how quiet this thread is this year. Maybe everyone is speechless cause the wings are just so frickin awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ROFLMAO....Well, 1st off I'm not getting my notifications when there's replies for some reason.

And 2: The best team didn't get past the 2nd round, it was shocking and I couldn't trash talk anyone...:nana:

3: It's been a scorch'in summer here already, no rain, just sun for over a month:applaud:I didn't even watch all the games, I caught the 3rd periods of some games, the only game I watched complete was the final. I couldn't force myself to go inside and watch at 4 or 5 in the afternoon when it's so awesome outside.

Too bad Bobby, that's it for years to come for the Wingnuts. They're so rattled they're whinning about the kid not shaking hands lol...lol...

Yeah Penquies..I'm glad they won :D Hossa..Ah ha ha ha...oh the irony..ha ha ha....

Ok..Here we go draft day, free agent signings, trades..yeah baby the new season starts now!!! It should be a very interesting summer :popcorn:I sure hope Gillis gets the twins signed...............

And you call yourself a hockey fan!!! I watched every minute because it was one of the best finals ever. And I've seen a few. Thankfully we didn't have to watch the Canucks get puréed by the Wings. As for the Wings, getting out of the West in one piece is nearly impossible. Especially when you throw in that ridiculous schedule! Back-to-back games! Since when!?!

But I am happy for Syd getting his first Cup, because he's a Maritimer. And I was also happy for Kris Letang who won one for his buddy Luc.

It's C.F.L. season now! Go Lions Go

We're back and Montreal's already pulled 2 wins out of their ass! Not that I'm complaining... How do y'all feel about your teams this year?

Leafs suck as badly as last year. Burke thinks that fighting will be the answer to better hockey. Apparently most other teams do as well. Watch for LOTS more fisticuffs in the WWH ... or the sissy hockey league (NHL) of last year.

Leafs have already lost two. All seats are sold out until 2051 at the ACC ... stupid people.

We got scoring.....LOTS of scoring, jus seem to have this problem of putting teams away. Tuesday, Philly will be a tough task, and will find out jus what the Caps really are about...

I'll never understand why the Leafs don't do better than they do. I've never seen them in the Stanley Cup finals in my lifetime. Anyways... we've lost 2 D-men already... I hope Price keeps standing on his head!

Sorry Christopher, but at least it wasn't a home thrashing. And be happy you weren't one of the Vancouver area Habs fans who pay top dollar for their once a year visit of their team.

Here's a fight between 5 foot 11 Rypien and 6 foot 7 Gill. Shades of the Stan Jonathan versus Bouchard fight of many years ago.

Leafs are now the worst franchise in history! Happy days! :homeranm:

During the downtime I didn't get to post the most important play with Vancouver crushing Chicago:
