I'd love to see the Leafs beat Ottawa. That would only help the Canes.

I'll be at the Canes/Lightning game tomorrow night..can't wait. Oh, and check it out....the Stanley Cup is taking a little mini-tour around Raleigh before the game. Hopefully, I'll be able to get a pic with it!!!

:zombie:

Ah ha ha ha...not a hope in hell. Theres so much turmoil in that room it's not funny, and after last night even more. It was bad before when the money line got way more icetime than the guys that actually play with heart desperation. Then Crow really freekin blows it and puts out freekin Bert who causes another goal and loss. You wanna talk hatered towards Crow and Bert by the rest of the players. Man, I'd love to be a fly on the wall when they're not around.

Theres also a theory that Bert's got something on Crow regarding the Moore incident, like telling him to get him. Why else would Crow never call out Bert, never sit him and give him way to much undeserved ice time. I mean him and Nazzy are like a -45 or something. Then last night again, he already caused 2 goals and he put him out with Thorton 4 on 4..phftt...either that or he gives good you know what.

Anywho, they'll probably get smoked tonight 7-1, I hope so, we can't fluke our way in playoffs, then Nonis has no excuse, he has to get rid of the cancer, he must fire Crow, get rid of Bert, keep Nazzy, but give the C to Jovo. A few more tweeks and start all freakin over next year. :banghead:

Yeah, WC, hope you beat the Oil tonight, I guess you'd luv to play the Preds, you've owned them all season haven't you, and now with Vokun going down, man that's a walk in the park. Guaranteed 2nd round without breaking a sweat. Bummer for the Preds though, bad break or what?

AAAAHEM.. Your team turtled when it counted, down without a fight, nothin,Rutuu style.... while the Leafs play absolutely posessed.Hopefully the Canucks can manage to catch a Leaf game and see what a desperate team playing with heart and keeping themselvs in the hunt refusing to go down without a fight looks like.Maybe its the captains, Matts steps up..Naslund steps out..ahhh,thats enough....Sorry MG:( ..

Its amazing, the habs i think will even have a chance against the stinkin canes, if it comes to it. They got the hottest goalie in the league, 2 top lines performing, and 2 back lines with scratches actually competing for spots. minus of course losing begin, ouch. man that guys good. hey chris u know what and how long hes out for? other than that. we rule!

BOOO to the canes. BOOOO

The game last night was awesome.....Canes win in a shootout and 8 goals in regulation.

One question though? Do they normally let Crips hold the Cup? :)

I stood in line last night for an hour to get a pic with it. When I got up there and was next in line, I turned to my brother, Allen, and jokingly said, "Dude, please don't let me bump ino the table and knock that thing off".

Well, the "Cup Keeper" heard me, smiled, put on his white gloves, and as I was rolling forward, he said....."Do you want to hold it?"

I said something to the effect of, "Are you serious? Hell yeah I want to hold it". The next thing I knew, the Cup was in my lap and my brother was taking a picture!

Kick ass night :)

Oh My, can't believe the Beleaf (lol) hasn't asked how I want to eat my crow yet....at least they went out winning. You have to admit though, it would have been bad if they snuck in, they might not have been blown up. Word is Crow's headed to T.O., that would be a good move, Crow's an excellent coach, he's just outgrown his time here. Unless of course, all the guys that have tuned him out are traded, he may stay, who knows? As long as Pat don't come back here, his days are done.

Hey Cool, just realized this thread is 4yrs old. :D So anywho, seeings that I was so pissed with the boys and last nights game ment squat, I didn't go. I went to GF Strong ( our rehab centre here in BC) looking for a SCI newbie Canuck fan to give my tics to. Someone who would enjoy the game, possibly even win a jersey (fan appreciation, jersey of their back night) Anywho, it was awesome, found a young guy about 17yrs to give them to. He was perty happy, he had a Canuck foam finger on his wall & everything.

Weird thing was, he was in the same room, same bed, I was in 23 yrs ago. Seems like one of those (meant to be) things.:D So anywho, he saw a great game, we won in OT, only thing that could have been better is if he won a jersey.

I must say to, how much I actually enjoyed that game, for the first time in months I was actually relaxed, stress free, and able to watch a game the way normal people watch them. No getting pissed off, no yelling, no complaining, no high & lows, no watching the clock, no panicing, no swearing, no throwing things. It was really cool, the playoffs will actually be quite enjoyable, I'll be able to kick back and just enjoy the game as it is meant to be. I really hate being such an emotional fan, but I can't help it, and I know I'm not alone.

PS: Geez, WC, looks like you're playing the Flames, too bad, going up against Kipper the geneticly made, non human species. And you guys are gonna get beat up, even if you were able to beat Kipper, you'll be hurting so bad you won't last the next round.

Then again, who knows, that's whats so great about hockey, it's so unpredictable.

PS: Here's one for Shaun.....he can ad another year.....

Hey Bobby....Where are you?

The Wings who start their series against the Oilers at home Friday night - finished atop the league standings with 124 points, but they played the three worst teams in the Western Conference 24 times this season. Also, the Red Wings and Oilers split the season series two games apiece.

So thats like 48 gimme points....124-48= 76 pts, wouldn't have even made the show...Do I smell upset..:D Go Oil Go!!!

JDR, yes the canes swept the season. and yes, they outscored the habs 25-9. but this is the playoffs, man. step into MontReal during the postseason and you take all that fancy stastical mumbo-jumbo and who outplayed what with the hometurf advantage etc etc and you wang it straight out the window cuz it just don't mean a frickin thang. you see, when you got all them pretty banners hangin over you're head (24 to be precise) and 85+ years of hockey legends haunting your bench, there's just no testing. especially with the ex-Whalers, for cripe's sake. brooms, mon oeil. the Hurricanes are gonna get stifled like a sneeze. :D

1. Sens-6 without Hasek they won't make the finals, but the offense will carrey them past Tampa.

2. Canes-6 to dominate for Montreal to handle.

3. Devils-5 MARTY BRODEUR, he'll carry the red hot Devils to the finals, again.

4. Sabres-6 Unless Foresberg jump starts this team, the surprisingly good Sabres will hand them another playoff loss.

5. Wings-5 Best team in the league, easily.

6. Stars-5 Turco is a great, Colorados offense isn't, plus thier D is lamer then the bird that just my window.

7. Ducks-7 Best series of the bunch, Giggy can have another incredible playoff, Calgary's offense is surprisingly like the brown stuff in my toilet. The kicker is Niedermayer, he makes any team a cup hopeful.

8. Sharks-6 Another good series, but when you look how hot the Sharks are and a Pred team without Vokoun, there shouldn' be any question who'll win.

Heh. So... how does it feel? :p

I wanted to vomit while watching the second and third periods of that game. That 6th goal....just added insult to injury. It was nasty.

Where the hell was that defense all season? We couldn't even complete a pass in our offensive zone.

We were forced to shoot crap all night and when we did get off a decent shot, Huet was just stone cold.

We doubled your shots on goal and still got our asses handed to us on platter.

If they don't show up for game two, the Canes might as well dust off their clubs. Early summer is a lovely time to play golf in Carolina.

Some might argue that carolina had a chance in that game, that they put up a fight, but if you ask me id say they got lucky to make it into overtime. habs shoulda stomped em at least 5-2 maybe 3 there. if they hadnt scored on em selves twice, and if huet wasnt screened like a mofo (it was a nice screen) on the tying goal, it woulda ended 5-2. but a win is a win. now they must face the wrath of habs home game advantage in the playoffs... they better bring some ear plugs cause that place is gonna be nuts. im sure chris will have a whole account of the win on thursday after teh game. have fun man that will be a great experience. Laviollete should have pulled Gerber after the second goal. I don't know what's been up with him lately. He's not the same goalie that I saw all season. Cam Ward looked decent and definitely gave the canes a spark off the bench.

Honestly, we are lucky we even made it to overtime with a chance to win. Keep in mind though, you guys did allow four unanswered goals late.

That was a heartbreaking loss. The Canes are scrappy though. I find it hard to believe that the Habs will pull off a sweep.

Good question, no doubt the flamers kicked in and beat up our Ducks. I would have to blame the team on this one. Only two scores and each from a rookie defenseman. Next game will be a bit different and I am positive the Ducks will win.

Poor Pat man, he's such a nice guy, he'll be working before the draft, it just better not be here. That Fergie Jr. should be canned too, he's the one who picked up all the players on their death beds at the deadline. Pat didn't have alot to work with.

Two things. after thinking about that high stick on koivu, im not entirely sure it wasnt somewhat intentional, obviously not at the eye but i didnt know trying to lift air was a hockey move. koivus stick was horizontal, it wasnt even on the ice. wtf was HE SWINGING AT> :#$2@#$@#. the frustration only deepens after tonight. why'd you have to ask for a game 6 chris??? hehe. dont those tickets follow over to next round????? or cant you exchange em???

IM sick of carolinas fluky goals. all these damn lucky bounces and what not. man o man. there may have only 2 or 3 over all, but tonights first goal! it frustrates me so much seeing these goals come into the playoffs.

you could definetly see the lack of luster in the habs play tonight. oh well back to carolina. carolina has yet to come back and win a series when down 2-0... so i hoope that doesnt change this year. BAH

The hit on Koivu was clearly unintentional. After the game, Justin Williams called and apologized to Koivu via a voicemail message.

Also, a Carolina player (I believe it was Recchi but I'm not 100% sure) is one of Koivu's best friends. The player was interviewed during an intermission, they talked about the hit, and he said that he had dinner with Koivu the night before. Koivu stated to him that he knew the hit was unintentional.

That first goal wasn't really a fluke. That's just how the puck bounces sometimes...off the crossbar, off a Habs player, and into the net.

Home ice hasn't exactly been kind to the home team this series. But, now we're bringing it back to Raleigh...back to the loudest barn in the NHL.

joshrai

Well time for my prediction, who would of thought the 4 bottom seeded teams in the West and the 4 top seeded teams in the East would move to round 2?

East:
Ottawa and Buffalo:
Ottawa has this series if Hasek comes back. But he probably won't, and since only 3 points seperated these 2 Northeast teams throughout the season, this will be a long hard series for both teams. Ottawa edges Buffalo in offense and they're even on defense.
Ottawa in 6.

Carolina and New Jersey:
Carolina struggled against Montreal, New Jersey sweeped the Rangers. Carolina is not the favorites here because of there goalie situation. Brodeur's team is again my favorite, and will also be the most one sided series of them all. Come on 15 straight wins now, how can anyone argue with that.
New Jersey in 5.

West:
San Jose and Edmonton:
Edmonton upset the mighty Wings, while San Jose dominated the lowly Preds. Who doesn't like an under dog? Sadly the Oil is the wrong under dogs this time. San Jose has to much depth on offense and are backed up by a solid goalie to ignore. Joe Thorton is now the undisputed best player in the league, and I doubt Pronger will be able to control him.
San Jose in 6.

Anaheim and Colorado:
Colorado suprised me, Anaheim didn't, but Theodore also didn't, that's why Anaheim will win. Theodore has all the possibilities, but nothing tangible, he's still a shadow of his former self. So unless Theo can steal atleast 2 games for the Avs the Ducks will meet there fishy californian friends in the west finals.
Anaheim in 7.

Hey Gimp, why the Avs and not the Sharks? I have a crazy brother who is a Avs fan, i'm going to take him to one of the games. :zombie:

I grew up in Colorado and have been an Avs fan ever since they came to Denver. I was a freshman in high school then. I liked the Bruins before the Avs came because I liked Ray Bourque (funny, huh?).

Anyway I just moved to California in August because I transferred to Fresno State to be closer to my girlfriend. I have never liked the Sharks but I have watched a few of their games this season because they were on TV. They've got a really good team.

It should be a good series against Anaheim! I might try to come down for a game if I can get accessible tickets for a decent price. I bet it would cost 3x the ticket price in gas alone so maybe not haha.

Yeah, that's the whole problem, our division has been in hard hitting intense playoff mode since day one. Every guy has to be playing injured. It sucks, but that's hockey. Who knows maybe the Oilers will get an adreniline rush from this and move on..man I hope so...

hahahha yeah for sure bc if I was there I would have gotten thrown out after that BULLSH*T non-call on the hit that took Brunette out and led to the Ducks' first goal. That was a nice hit but it was also a penalty and if it had been called it would have been a completely different game. How can you say that? Theodore played great against the Stars and stole Game 5. Stopping 50 shots and only giving up 2 are you kidding? He played great when he had to and that's all that matters.

Anyway, you may be right; he sure looked bad last night, eh? (lol i just said "eh")

joshrai

Dude, my heart broke when NJ scored that goal with 20 seconds to go (a nice goal i might add).

I almost turned it off when that happened, but i've been to enough games this season to know that the Canes don't quit until the buzzer sounds. I'll have to admit though...even I didn't expect a goal with 3 seconds to go. I'm sure my neighbors think I'm nuts. :)

I wish the OT goal would have been a little cleaner...it was kinda garbage, but in the playoffs, I'll take everything we can get. Fantastic game. Thanks for the props. My boys deserve it.

Dude what happened last night happened twice for the Avs in the first round. Freakin awesome. To go from thinking, "dammit we lost" to "f--- yeah!" in a split second is unbelievable. Then in the overtime you just know your team is going to pull it out because they have ALL the momentum. Hockey rules.

Hey George, are you going to Game 5 (if there is one)?? I might make it down, but I can't find anyone to go. I may just go alone though for the heck of it. Anyway, I bet you're enjoying this beat down! The Avs look like they don't even belong on the same ice as the Ducks.

What would you do in his situation? His hockey career was ended by a cheap shot. I mean he got punched in the back of the head from behind. That is battery and assault, not hockey. He almost did end up in our shoes. Seriously, how can you of all people say that? I understand you hate the Avs, fine. But that incident went beyond the realm of hockey. What if the roles were reversed and it happened to a Canuck player? I think you would be singing a different tune. However, I wouldn't.

Funny how playoffs are a whole different ballgame. I had the oilers out in 5. I should have known, they never say die. In all the games we played them, they would still be given er till the last minute. Pronger what a fool knocking out Smyth's chicklets, they shoulda made him pick them up and give them to him.

Can't wait till Sundays game. These guys are so beat up they prolly can't even walk properly, but oh well, that's what they get paid to do.:D

Devils avoid the sweep, but I'm not hopeful for there future in this series, altho stranger things have happened.

Oilers surprised me, if they beat San Jose in the tank, the fish will be drowning.

And we'll find out if Ottawa can be eliminated later.

MattGimpin

The Oilers have been relying on their home fans for momentum all playoffs and it has been amazing to watch. I don't think they can win in San Jose but if they do, I think they'll take it in 6 back in EDM.

It was good to see the Devils win and extend the series. I think they will win the next game as well. Doesn't look good at all for Ottawa IMO.

I'm nervous about the Canes tonight. NJ put a royal ass whipping on us yesterday. Nothing about that performance was pretty for Carolina.

I see today's game as a must-win for the Canes. Another NJ win and the momentum may swing too far in the Devils' direction. The Canes are skilled, but highly emotional. A home ice loss would be devestating.

I'm keeping the faith though. I call a 4-3 Canes win (I'll probably regret this later). :)

Geez that Horcoff"s a nice lil player, he so fast hey. You can bet all the boys are pissed the Oil won, they didn't want to play them thats for sure. Burkey"s prolly just steamin, and worried, he knows edmonton all to well.

Hey don't they have your number too you guys? I'm to tired & lazy to look it up. I kinda recall that. Best thing you quackers can do is practice getting all of Rolli's rebounds, because your big line will be shut down, Selanne won't be able to do shit.
Anywho "GAME ON!!!" The winner will be determined game 7 double OT, either way. Preferabbly the Oilers of course, but 7 games pleeeeease:applaud:

Ducks over Oilers in 7
This will be close, but when you look at Pronger vs. Niedermayer, I have to favour Niedermayer's team.

Canes over Sabres in 6
Sabres beat Ottawa, but more importantly the Canes beat the Devils, my team to beat in the East. This will be a battle of emotions, and the Canes have more home games. This series can last 4 or 7, depends if one of these rookie goalies crack.

Although after that long lay-off it may also take them a game to get their wings back. :p Hell, who knows? As long as it's a good one. I expect game 2, 4, 6 & 7 to be wicked games.

hey man are you a Habs fan? I love the original 6 teams (except the red wings lol).

I would love to go to a game up there, I bet it's insane. If I ever go, should I learn French? I wish the NHL would balance the schedules more so every team has a home-and-home with every other team. I would like to eventually see the Avs in all the arenas.

The games are insane. I went to two in round one. In fact, I think I cursed them by showing up to game 3. Awesome seats for the price though. Alot of emotion, and ZERO Canes fans. The period starts, the song comes on, the bell rings, you think it's gonna be Hell's Bells by AC/DC but its not. Its For Whom the Bell Tollls by Metallica and suddenly you want to break something.

Last night was a Canes clinic!!! I think Edmonton will take one at home. Canes in 5...winning the cup in front of a Raleigh crowd :)

JD JD JD...You Caniac you...A Clinic? The oilers handed that game to them on a platter...they sucked. They gave up, no confidence in their goalie, penalty after penalty...it was disgusting. They're toast man....You guys had this series in the bank the moment Rolly went down. Not taking anything away from the Canes though they are a good team a couple good veterens, good young players, excellent goalie, they deserve to be in the final this time.

I don't know if they'll even win one game the way they've thrown in the towell..poor fans... I hope they do win one though so you can take Lord Stanley at home :D

Congrats Canes..at least Lord Stanley will be visiting BC for a few weeks this summer with Recchi and Ladd..:)

My goodeness, the Oilers sucked ass last night. They were the suckiest suck that ever did suck. It hurt to watch goal after goal because they were such weak shots. I figured without Roloson they were screwed. The Canes are a great team and I knew the Oilers would have there hands full but come on, the Oilers were just making themselves look kind of cheap. Actually they weren't making themselves look kind of cheap, they WERE being cheap. Sad, so very sad. I'm still with them though. Go Oilers Go.

It was a great game and I'm sooo glad they won. If they didn't win Saturday there was just no way they would have a chance to win Stanley.

In all honesty, the Oilers should have won 3-1 last night. The goal that was called back looked legit to me.

I'm okay with the loss. That just means that we'll take the Cup on home ice :)

Hmmm, not why they lost, but the officiating in this series has been brutal, no way to have a final series, hopefully they'll look at all the bad and missed calls and address them for the rest of the series...hopefully 3 more games...I dunno though....maybe if the oilers learn what to do on a power play, or score a couple goals.

Anywho, Cam Ward is a pretty special goalie, best be locking him up for a few years...

PS: Here's one for the zebras......

Yeah kudos to Cam Ward. He's a good kid. Heartbreaking to watch Edmonton control the puck in the third, without even getting shots off. Kinda heartbreaking. :(

I'm sure they will. Cam is our "goalie of the future". I have all ideas that they'll let Gerber go in the offseason.

Anywho.....one more win...just one more win....and we'll be raising hell in Raleigh!!! I can't wait!!!!

Man oh man that game was painful to watch. The Oilers had so many chances but they just couldn't get it done. I know it isn't good to blame a player for a loss but I blame Torres for the loss. Him and Green can't control themselves. I mean as soon as he tripped the Canes player right after the faceoff I knew the Canes were going to score. The Oilers are looking beat now and the Canes are still in fighting mode. I'm still with the Oilers though.

Go Oilers.

Ryan..Ryan..Ryan...lol..lol...atta boy..bloody copycats....lol..

http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blogworld/blog.aspx?blogger=6&post=2244

Speaking of copycats, 1st people steal our towel waving, For those of you who don't know ... Roger Neilson most for the infamous white towel incident from 1982. He was coaching the Vancouver Canucks, and his team was called for nine consecutive penalties during a playoff game against the Chicago Blackhawks. In protest, Roger put a towel on the end of a hockey stick and held it up in surrender. Neilson was ejected from the game and later fined by the NHL for the gesture, but up north in Vancouver, fans started waving towels of their own. The Canucks rallied to win the series in six games and advanced to the Stanley Cup finals. Regrettably, the New York Islanders would win the Stanley Cup, but fans continue to wave towels in support of their home team to this day.

Now the Oiler fans & their anthem guy sing the anthem like we do. For two seasons with Mark Donnelly, he would start and the crowd would finish at the top of our lungs, it brought goosebumps everytime. Geez can't teams come up with their own traditions.

Ok.. nuff bitchin...5mins to puck-drop, Oilers win for Caniacs trying to copy Team Canada's Loonie implant. Oil 3 - Canes 2

What a goal! I'm almost ashamed how happy I was when Passani scored, I felt like I was cheating on my boys. :zombie: Peka's goal was a pretty sweet shot too. Cool, wasn't expecting this...thought they packed it in after that last game. Hard to say, coming back to win like that short-handed, break-away, OT, could be the ticket, what a lead up to Sat's game...:applaud:

Cops are prolly just freekin about Sat night. Theres always the drunkin idiots that spoil it for everybody. That happened here too when we were in the finals with New York, 99.9 % of us were out on the streets having a blast, even when we lost, then a couple drunkin idiots start being friggin goofs, then it was the other monkey-see, monkey-do drunkin idiots joining in and all hell broke loose. It was stupid though that they called it the Stanley Cup Riot, it wasn't no riot, it was a handful of punks causing shit.

Anywho, I hope the cops can weed out the idiots before they even get there, so they don't ruin it for everyone else like they did here, it pissed me right off. If anything should be banned it's booze not pot, you didn't see the potheads swinging from streetlights, they were just hanging out "Wow...Man....Whaat a gaame EH...Toke?" :D

Stillman, Stillman, Stillman!!! How do you go from superstar to Raleigh GOAT in one lackluster swing of your stick?

Okay, so I grew up playing soccer, not hockey, but one thing I know.....you don't make lazy cross ice/field passes in your own defensive zone. Who didn't see that one coming? It was like it happened in slow motion

My comp is messing up so i"ll have to cut this post short>>>> GO CANES!!!!
