Hey, is your avatar Christopher from the Sopranos?

It is indeed. Louis Brazzi sleeps with the fishes!

And um, how many Stanley Cups have Vancouver won? Is it less than 24? Oh that's right, it's ZERO!!! Montreal's won at least one cup every decade and that ain't gonna change. To be honest though, I used to be a Canucks fan when I was young and naive so... I wonder if my Mom still has my butt ugly Canucks shirt, mustard yellow with a brown and red V goin' across the front... Good times. Good times.

ehhh.

I used to date a guy who played hockey.

he had all his teeth, nonetheless.

All I know is... the hottest thing EVER was when he fully body checked an opposing team member and then looked for me in the stands and raised his stick to me, as a salute- if you will.

HOT.

I'm a sick twist, eh?

Just popping in to say, I thought of you hockey people on my way to work this morning when I saw a bumper sticker that said:

"Give Blood--Play Hockey" :D

I thought that was cute, but since your'e hockey fans you may have heard that so many times that it's just not funny.

At any rate--it made me think of you guys/gals :)

My band used to play a pretty good punk version... has anyone ever seen a band called the Hanson Brothers (NOT the boy band)? They're actually the alter ego of No Means No. They tour the country during playoff season, decked out in full hockey gear, DIY punk stuff... great show!

Fiesty with all your liberal views and your love of hockey players, are you sure you're not Canadian?

From Wikipedia (I LOVE this thing!):

No Means No's alter ego is The Hanson Brothers, a quartet with John singing and different drummer. Nearly a Ramones tribute band, the Hanson Brothers play fun punk rock as a mock group of backward Canadian ice hockey fans. The lyrics centre on ice hockey, beer and girls. The name comes from the Paul Newman (1977) ice hockey film Slap Shot.

Right-on buddy, Since when were you able to get satellite feeds, didn't you just get rid of your rabbit ears & get tv reception there in Saskabush? :D That's ok Budnick, while you're bundled up in your mucklucks & coon trimmed parka, eating your smoked seal jerky, and you're crying in your spiked hot cocoa, after yet another Leaf loss....

I'll be at the Garage, warm & toasty, watching LIVE hockey, with REAL players, celebrating REAL wins, because we have a Real Live Winning Hockey team. With REAL live fans :D

Anybody seen this? Geez, What happened? I thought they were going to give in to the pansies out there who think hockey is such a violent game  LOL...first part is a "Warrior", I luv it.

Some of the shots look awesome, can't wait for the complete series, if these commercials don't work getting a better fan base south of the border nothing will. They should just give up, and have all the under-appreciated teams move here like Carolina to Winterpeg or Regina.:D

Well Duh...there were Canadian teams playing with the bright glowing puck. Remember... it was invented to try and make it easier for you guys to follow a "BLACK" puck on a "WHITE" surface....:D

PS: We'll be seeing ya in the Final, (if you knock off the Sens). I'll never forget the bench brawl here years ago, when they really were the BSB's.:applaud:

Ducks - 24th? I think not...

I got the chance to check out a pre-season game last week. We've got a couple really good rookies in Getlaf and Perry, added the Norris Trophy winner to the blue line, Fedorov, Selanne, Lupul, Ozolinch, Sykora...

Ain't gonna be 24th...

I just got a 55 in. Sony HD TV a couple weeks ago. Angels are in the play-offs starting today, Ducks tomorrow. Not to mention my son's peewee hockey team travels to San Jose this weekend playing in the Southwest Youth Hockey League. Life is good.

Yeah, I didn't agree with 24th either, you guys are in for some good hockey. Burkey was saying theres thousands of more seasons tics sold...that's awesome hey.:D

Oh yeah, Getlaf & Perry look perty good alright. Neider's oh yeah, it'll be way better this year. No trap, exciting hockey Burkey style. As long as Giggy can still stop pucks without looking like the Michelin Man. :p :D

PS: Oh Baby!!!! 7hrs till puck drop :D Yee freakin ha!!!!, We're leavin in 4 though, the place is gonna be nuts, people are so pumped you'd think it were the playoffs. It's pretty cool how all teams are playing tonight too, great way to kick off the season.

Have fun everybody!

PS: Shaun, you got Centre ice, you should watch our game after the Sens smoke ya .:D Sens 6 Laffs 2.

You gotta check out Wayner behind the bench anyway. I'm not expecting to much from the big line for a few games they haven't been playing together except for 1 game, they've beenm freakin sore already:agog: I'll give them a month. But man, does the Sedin, Carter line ever look awesome. I'm expecting great things from those guys.:applaud: So tune in and catch a hockey team that actually has talent & knows how to play the game, and play it well :D

Anywho, GAME FREAKIN ON!!!!!!!!!!

Oh man, I hear ya bud, the shoot-out sucks alright, but what a double freakin whammy Kariya scoring hey. That really must've hurt. Little bugger...

Yup, I'm sure not a fan of the shoot out, it's so not a way to decide a game, it's bloody stupid. At first I thought right-on, it's exciting, but after talking about it more, no way. Hopefully they loose it next season.
And I ain't saying it cause we've been sucking in them either. It for show, not for the good of the game.

On the lighter side, you guys must be so pumped for the home opener tommorrow, should be a great game, have a blast guys. And kick Oiler ass! Take out Pronger while you're at too please and thank-you. :D

It's Thanksgiving here and we won't be having turkey, we'll be chowing down on Bobby's Wings. Ooh baby... RedWings, smoked, burned, skinned and de-boned. :D Although I must say, it seems the boys were staying in shape playing shuffleboard and keeping their minds sharp playing bingo at "The Shady Rest Old Folks Home".

Yeah Baby....What a Thanksgiving Dinner this is gonna be! Hey Bobby!!!:D Should be an awesome game........hopefully no shootout and few penalties. We already know it will be end to end, high paced beautiful game, now allowing our skilled guys to do what they do best. This is gonna be sweeeeeeet!!!!!!!!!!:applaud:

Shaun

Oh im back baby..:D

Im quite happy with Leafs thus far actually. We took it to the Sens twice, stealing a point both times and beat the Flyers, both of whom are the big favourites in the east.We lost to the Habs thanks to Berg and Belak.

But were getting scoring from everywhere and if Matts and O'Neil had been in for the Sens and Hab games they would be wins to:D ...but thats the past now.

Domi's got more goals and less penalty minutes on our 4th line than Bertuzzi, and is actually if he keeps it up on pace for 41goal season..:D

Actually Nate,i due deem it a success stealing 2 points from the Sens because i thought they were better than that and if Mats had played those games, they would be W's,you could bank on it..Regular season domination by the Sens+ playoff choke, carry the Sens fans tears ='s 4-0 playoff sweep by the Leafs:D :p

Its still early in the season John,i wouldnt panic yet.A lot can happen..

Yup, they prolly got threatened with walking papers.:nono: ..LOL..LOL...:D .it was bound to happen, but the 2nd rankings, they could have at least waited a few more weeks to make it look half ass legit..lol..lol..what a joke

The boys at Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment certainly slapped their ass's rather quickly, which of course they must bend over for because they own a percentage of the "Toronto Sports Network" oops I mean TSN  Oh well, that's why Sportsnet started up, they couldn't handle the bullsh*t. I watch Habs games on RDS..I usually turn the volume and turn on my stereo.Being Canadian do we really need commentary anyways :D

Heres a little rumour for you Graybead..http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/columnist.jsp?content=20051018_100525_4988...I wouldnt mind the Leafs pickin Witt up and replacing one of are two turds on the third paring..

..

Phftt......LOL...:D I think you must be smokin that "Deadly Prarie Cow Chip" again...You Leaf fans are soooo gullible...you really believe that applies to the Leafs...Hell they could loose half the team and 20 straight games and the suits would find a way to make them spin it. "Toronto" period can't do no wrong. If you weren't a Leaf fan you'd see that my friend...

Just a tidbit, Did you know that the Ontario Teachers Union Pension Plan is even invested in the Leafs..lol....

But Hey don't worry my budnick, they will win the cup one day , probably by extorsion or knockin off a few guys..who knows...lol..lol...they'll pull it off some how, come hell or hired hitmen...:D

On the lighter side...What's with them Habs man?:zombie: A Nucks/Habs final instead of Sens...Cool.,I'm in....:applaud:

PS: This new schedule really sucks too we only play Habs, leafs & Sens once and we don't even get to see Kid Crosby out here. We don't even see some teams period and for a few seasons the way they got it rigged up. I like playing guys in our division, but 8 times...:zombie: I'd rather see the all Eastern teams at least once. You guys the same? You must be, what division don't you guys see?

christopher
10-20-2005, 04:26 PM
I'm a little iffy on the schedule too. But our division's pretty good. Ottawa, Boston, the Centre of the Universe... there's plenty of hate to go around. I wish Quebec still had their own team tho, then I could beat y'all down in both official languages. :p

Shaun
10-20-2005, 06:41 PM
Agreed! Theres alot of history in our division. The new ''8 games against your own division'' schedule is gonna be alot of fun..Theres nothing like a HNIC Leafs vs Canadians game to rock a sports bar..

serious ROFFELL.

but to conclude the story, they had a back to backer playing Philly Sunday night.

Needless to say, they stank up a storm...with everyone saying they got TANKED (drunk) after sweeping the leafs 8-0...and were still hungover against the flyers.

lol...guess they earned it.

Well, I can't complain about Montreal's record so far (13-3-3) but c'mon! These one goal, overtime, coming-back-from-behind, lead-blowing games are giving me a bloody heart attack! They've been pouring it on in the first, dicking around in the 2nd, and holding their own in the third. With Kovalev out for a bit, these guys gotta work on their D. I'm a bit worried about pretty boy Theo, but he'll probably improve half way in. Great season so far though. :)

gvinton
11-16-2005, 02:49 PM
We got one young defenseman and a journeyman center. Fedorov hasn't exactly been the player we had hoped and he'll be 36 next week. I don't think it's a bad move but it would have been nice to get something in return. Time will tell.

It does free up cap space to make some moves at a later date, flexibility we didn't have without the move. Jury's still out on Burke. He certainly isn't shy about pulling the trigger and moving Duck veterans (Rucchin, LeClerc, Fedorov). We need offense right now...

westcoast_gc
11-16-2005, 10:55 PM
Burke did the right move. Feds just wasn't a right fit and the money situation was an issue. See what happens tonight. :zombie:

Shaun

The Leafs are actually about right where i thought they would be.I was hoping Allison would have made more of an impact..but oh will..The way Wellwood,Stajan and Steen are playin and now that Matts and O'neil have clicked he has become expendible and i'd be willing to let him go for a high pick.....Maybe your Ducks will take him?

I think movin Fedorov was the right move also.He hasnt played in along while and will never be what he was Detroit again most likely..

monkeygirl
11-21-2005, 12:03 PM
Do you believe that crap? :zombie: All I kept thinking was, man would i be pissed if I paid for that game. Oh my god, my duck buddies, I felt for ya's, that had to be the worst officiated game ever. Those guys should be sent to the minors. My favorite was Linden getting a penalty shot...huh? So many bad calls it was pathetic.. phftt...What a joke hey?

On the lighter side, Losing was probably overlooked by the officiating, and, that McDonald pretty good. Don't worry guys, you'll turn things around, the season is still young. ;)

Lets hope we don't see any more butt-ugly games like that again....

Maple Leafs goaltender Ed Belfour (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/player_bio.asp?player_id=628) will try to move into sole possession of second place on the career wins list as Toronto continues a three-game road trip against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Watch the game live on the NHL on TSN tonight at 7:30pm et/4:30pm pt as part of a doubleheader that includes the Colorado Avalanche in Vancouver to face the Canucks.
Belfour stopped 34 shots in a 2-1 victory over the Florida Panthers on Monday.
With his 447th career win, Belfour tied Hallf of Famer Terry Sawchuk for second place on the all-time list. With his next victory, Belfour will only trail Patrick Roy (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/player_bio.asp?player_id=197), who had 551 wins.

"I had a chance to read his biography," Belfour said of Sawchuk. "He was a very fierce competitor, very acrobatic and obviously very brave, not wearing a mask most of his career. I'm just honored to be tied ...

Right-on...Centre-ice,... So I forgot to mention, even though you hate Bert...Do you believe that friggin ref gave Bert an instigator on that, what a crock. J.D. even fiqures they'll recind that. Anybody else that call wouldn't have been made. No wonder he's holding back on his physical play. He's scared of calls like that, ridiculous...absolutely ridiculous.

Hey, I'm curious, How many of the centre-ice games are HD? We finally got our new TV,

http://www.sonystyle.ca/commerce/servlet/ProductDetailDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=10001&productId=1001599&navigationPath=32050n45260

I love it, got a scucum deal $2500, only thing that pisses me of is theres only 4 freakin Canuck games in HD. Good ol CBC, we all pay the same tax dollars to run that bloody network, but again the friggin Leafs games are all HD. "Oh, it's too expensive to send the HD trucks out West..phftt...whatever...:hissyfit:

It's pretty shitty watching a double header when the first game is HD then a regular game, like night & day. They better be all HD by next season, or the West will rebel and split from freekin Ontario once and for all!!!! And they wonder why we hate them...Centre of the universe...my ass....

Geez...I better settle down, starting to sound like someone pissed in my cornflakes or something :D OK..Toodle-Do....

Whadda ya mean duder, we already are Cup Fav's man..:D Right Shaun. Nah, he won't be coming here, we're gonna end up riding Aldy, he's 7th in the league in GAA among goalies who've played 20 or more games. He's also 7th in SV%.

He's outperforming Luongo, Giguere, Kolzig, Turco, DiPietro, Belfour, Brodeur, Denis, Esche,Theodore, Aebischer, and Brodeur, and lots of others not really worth mentioning.

We'll see how this Ouilete dude does too, who knows, all we need is a decent backup who can share the load. I actually have alot of faith in Auldy, he's big in the net and he plays smart positional style goaltending.

We should have Flaherty, but that new friggin rule about bringing guys up and they can get scooped really sucks man.

On a tour of Florida, the Pope took a couple of days off to visit the coast for some sightseeing. He was cruising along the beach in the pope mobile when there was a frantic commotion just off shore. A helpless man, wearing a Toronto Maple Leaf jersey, was struggling frantically to free himself from the jaws of a 22-foot shark.
As the Pope watched, horrified, a speedboat came racing up with three men wearing Montreal Canadiens jerseys aboard. One quickly fired the harpoon into the shark's side. The other two reached out and pulled the bleeding, semiconscious Leaf’s fan from the water. Then using baseball bats, the three heroes in red, blue and white beat the shark to death and hauled it into the boat, too.
Immediately, the Pope shouted and summoned them to the beach. "I give you my
Blessing for your brave actions," he told them, "I heard that there was some bitter hatred between Leaf and Habs fans, but now I have seen with my own eyes that this is not the truth."
As the Pope drove off, the harpooner asked his buddies, "Who was that?" "It was the Pope," one replied. "He is in direct contact with God and has access to all of God's wisdom." "Well," the harpooner said, "he may have access to God's wisdom, but he doesn't know much about shark fishing..... How's the bait holding up?"

Bert should play over Spezza and Staal for his size alone, he isn't there to score the big goals, he's there to intimadate the competition, with your logic Draper, Doan, and Nash (hasn't played all season) definetly shouldn't be there.

[quote=joshrai]Bert should play over Spezza and Staal for his size alone, he isn't there to score the big goals, he's there to intimadate the competition[quote]

AAAAAAAAAHH HAAA HAAAA HAAAA HAAAA LMAO...Thats a good one, thanks for that:D ....This is the Olympics, not the Stanley Cup.

My logic! Will lets meet the players shall we..and lets start with Bertuzzi being last pick for the team

1-Spezza...48p +19 and could play right along his Sens teamate Heatley which is 2/3 of the hottest line in the NHL.Those two alone are a combined 104p and a +47...no logic there?

2-Staal...52p -1 Ya,he's a -1,but thats pretty damn good considering he plays on the Hurricane PK and has 3 SHG's....No logic there?

3-Bertuzzi...38p -9 He's ridin a -9 and he doesnt even play on the PK.He isnt hitting anybody,he isnt intimidating anybody (and before you begin to argue this, ive only missed 4 Canucks games this year) and if he wasnt playin with Naslund most nights his numbers would be less.....This is logical to you?

Its the Olympics Josh, have you looked at the nations rosters? There's no one to intimidate! Size means fuck all.If we want gold, every player on that team better be able to score the big goal..and your right about one thing,Bertuzzi isnt the guy to do it..but the other 2 are...i want gold!

Now lets look at your logic...''size'' ''intimidation'' ''no need to score the big goals''....Will then, why not take Mcgratton,Hordichuk,Worrel,Belak..i mean there all bigger and a hell of a lot more intimidating than Bertuzzi,right?...and i have no idea what your talkin about when you mentioned those other 3 names...but this is the reality,no?

joshrai

By your logic Draper and Doan shouldn't be on the team, Spezza and Stall should've replaced them. Yes there are great players who didn't make the team but Bert has every right to be on this team, he can play, he's the biggest guy on the team, the 3rd best power forward in the NHL (after Thorton and Forsberg).

Gretzky and co. pick a team that will be highly skillful, but can grind down low. Bert is proven in the NHL, is Spezza and Stall's great season just luck, well find out next season if they have the true gold.

P.S. If Spezza didn't play with Heatly and Alfredson is numbers would be way down.

''By your logic Draper and Doan shouldn't be on the team, Spezza and Stall should've replaced them.''

No,what i said,is that Bertuzzi had the ? on him and thats why he was picked last..therefore putting the other 2 on the taxi squad

''Bert has every right to be on this team, he can play, he's the biggest guy on the team, the 3rd best power forward in the NHL (after Thorton and Forsberg).''

Spoken like a true homer:p ...3rd best? 2yrs ago i might not hjave argued that with you,but comin off his suspension and a year without plaiyin, will, now only in the Lower Mainland i guess.. Biggest guy on the team? So what, that has nothing to do with anything other than impress you..:D

''Gretzky and co. pick a team that will be highly skillful, but can grind down low. Bert is proven in the NHL, is Spezza and Stall's great season just luck, well find out next season if they have the true gold.''

Ugh,buddy the season isnt over yet,and the Olympics will be happening right in middle of there great seasons..Think about that, next season who cares..Grind down low? Again, have you been watchin Bertuzzi this year, cause that aint his thing..

''P.S. If Spezza didn't play with Heatly and Alfredson is numbers would be way down.''

Ugh,yeah ok...Would you like me visit Spezza numbers for ya without Heatley? And your kinda making my argument for me here aint ya,considering he would be playing with Heatly? 2/3 remember? But anyways, thanks for being a FOOTBALL fan,now back to hockey:D :p

Stop lookin at it in Homer vision jr,its thee Olympics....I hope Bertuzzi doesnt make it,the other 2 are times twice the players right now...if he is still there, then i wish him nothin but the best..

OK. You know I like Bert, (used to say luv Bert)..BUT..I have to say, my jaw dropped when he was picked, as did it with Jovo. (Shaun,They left them last because they were here in Van for the naming of the team with the home crowd able to cheer)

I was shocked on 2 accounts, 1) because he was playing like shit up until a few games before the team was announced and 2) because of the media circus that may, and probably will happen all over again (it started right away from mostly non hockey media people, and the Moore camp, but also because of emails to the Olympic commitee (like they're morally superior):puke1:

Anywho, when the freakin circus started up again, I started thinkin, Bert should step up and say he'll step aside this year for the sake of the team, so the focus will be on the team where it should be not on him and make it a circus again. I thought it would be a classy move. But well, he didn't, and who knows, maybe the idiots will actually leave it alone anyways.

Anywho, he started to look good again, I had faith, and there he was, the last few games again, floating around, not doing shit, taking stupid penalties, giveaways like crazy. Then again, in the last 2-3mins in the game he starts to friggin play, little to late dickhead. He's so friggin frustrating because you know what he's capable of, but he just doesn't produce.:banghead:

Anyways, I guess what I'm saying is I don't think he should be there either, although, I sure hope that between then & now he gets his shit together, this whole freakin team man. I am so not a happy camper these days. I haven't experienced losses like this in over 10yrs. I so don't handle losing well...at all. I would wake up, "Yes! Game Day:applaud: " Now it's oh boy yipee :( and roll over. Man, I wish I wasn't such an emotional fan.:hissyfit: It really really sucks.

We so needed that.:applaud: Ill wait for a 5 game streak before I feel decent again though. Hopefully they will build on these last 2 and burn them Laufs on Tues.:applaud:

So latest rumor has Theodore coming here. 6 frog scouts were here Sat. I haven't been following Jose this year at all. What's the scoop on him these days Chris? I think if Biron goes to Av's instead of Nucks, it will be Theodore. I know he was stellar a couple years back but what about now:confused:

Will i'll be! Straight from TSN today Chris, who knew? Will MG knew, but MG knows things, special things, secret things :D

AROUND THE RINKS
- According to the Ottawa Sun, if the Canadiens are considering dealing G Jose Theodore, the Vancouver Canucks might be interestd, and the Habs would likely want Todd Bertuzzi in exchange. With Cristobal Huet getting back-to-back starts recently, Theodore's name becomes only more active on the trade front.
- The Ottawa Sun salso ays the Canadiens' current state of disarray has GM Bob Gainey willing to trade just about anybody, including C Mike Ribiero, D Craig Rivet, D Sheldon Souray and D Mike Komisarek. The paper reports that the Capitals are interested in Ribiero as a setup man for super rookie Alexander Ovechkin.

There both marginal 7th D men,maybe..you might as will just throw a couple milk crates on the ice...And then next comes Domi,Belak,Czercawski and unless Matts gets his shit together soon,he can leave also.

The only players id keep for sure right now are Coliacavo,Kilger, wilm,Poni,Steen,Stajan,Wellwood,T ucker,Mccabe,Kaberle...my bubble players Antropov,Allison,Sundin,O'neil,...the reast can leave for whatever,id trade em for tape, pucks new water bottles maybe..

Good for your team JDR, isn't hockey a great game. I wish I would have learned about the game as a child. I truely believe it would have been sport of choice for me. I played Football, baseball and basketball in highschool, but hockey is far more exciting to watch IMHO.

MG, that game just got out out of control after Vish's game misconduct

Yeah, I'm now pretty much addicted to hockey. I can't get enough of it. I've been to games before in the past, but I've really gotten into it like never before during this season.

Kinda funny...I learned all of the opposing team player's names by playing NHL 06 on my xbox. :)

The more I learn, the more I love it. Oh, and it doesnt hurt that every single game that I've been to this year has either been a come from behind victory, an overtime win, or a shootout win. That tends to keep things exciting. :)

Oh, and check this out....game tickets start at $10.29 for the lowest rim of the upper bowl (still great seats) and on game days through their caniac college rush program I can purchase all of the other seats at half price. That is becoming increasingly difficult though because they are selling out a lot.

Nice pickups to help out our ailing D, but, shit man , that don't mean squat if they O can't even find the freakin net grrrrrr...:banghead: Buncha freekin loosers...grrrrrr..phfttt and this was supposed to be the year...yeah sure ok...grrrrr

I feel sorry for the other guys on the bench who gotta sit there and watch as as those guys get paid 5 times as much as them and they can't do jack out there. Or the Sedin line who clearly out perform Bert, Nazzy and Mo, and yet they get less ice time and make a combined 12 million more than they do.

Trouble in the room, um yeah I'd say so. I'd be freekin livid if I were them. Like tonight, the Sedin line comes back with 2 goals to tie the game, who does Crow come back with to start the 3rd period on a powerplay? Yipper, every freekin time, geez thanks coach we just got us back in the game and this is how you reward us..grrrrr:banghead: What a joke..grrrrr...

OK, I guess I'm done.....:hissyfit: and so are they..............

Would some of you hockey veterans please explain to me why my Coyotes suck? With Gretzky as the coach, shouldn't they be a decent team? I just started getting into hockey this season...I live less than ten minutes from the Coyotes arena so I've been to several games...LOTS of fun...would like to get season tickets next season, but at this rate, well...

The operative word here being 'should'...heres how i see the east playing out..The Canes take 2nd the Sens take 1st while the Leafs take 8th after taking more valuable points from the Habs setting up a Sens-Leafs 1st round match, then in the blink of an eye and to the shock of the Hockey world the Leafs take them in 5...Deja vu,ive read this story :D ...but anyhoo..

JDR your really gonna notice the acqustions of Leclair and Weight pay off in the playoffs, these guys are tough and there gonna come up huge for ya.

I dont know MG,your slidin, your slidin..GC and GV's Ducks are comin on strong...Roloson's gonna turn it around in Edmonton now that he's got that first win off his mind....Your sittin in the playoffs now,but your fightin up the same rope as Leafs..I love to watch you 'freak' :D

Now Bridgets a hockey fan! How cool is that..Grets was a great player, but that doesnt always equal a great coach.Hes also had about a horrible year as a coach or person could have, his mother died, his grandmother died,Tocchet involved in an illegal gambling ring, then a horrible Olympics.I love watchin the Coyotes play there an exciting team young, tough and fast..Buy the tickets.

Oh man, I wished I had some valium kicking around. So glad they puilled that off. They actually played an excellent game again, (well 50 mins anyway, sluffed off a bit there) But 2 fluke oiler goals, and the shootout fluke, we so deserved to win this game.

They still aren't out of the doghouse with me though, that's still only 2 good games in the past month. Just maybe, this last closed door player only mtg actually lit the fire under their ass's.

I so can't wait till Sat's game, man, a sweep would be so sweeeeet...:applaud:
That may be a bit much to ask, but not really they made their own bed and now they gotta sleep in it or else go golfing.

All I ask is they giver all 110%, no freekin floating, and play like a team. Then, I might take them off the shit list, a 10 game winning streak might just work too:applaud:

PS: Yeah WC Burkey does live there, he's still on the radio alot here and he said that's where they bought a home. So is he looking like a genius down there yet? :applaud: He's a great GM, our loss that's for sure....

Two guys from Vancouver die and wake up in Hell. The next day the devil stops in to check on them and sees them dressed in parkas, mittens and toques warming themselves around the fire.
The devil asks them, "What are you doing? Isn't it hot enough for you?" The two guys reply, "Well, you know, we're from Canada, the land of snow and ice and cold. We're just happy for a chance to warm up a little bit, eh."
The devil decides that these two aren't miserable enough and turns up the heat. The next morning he stops in again and there they are, still dressed in parkas, toques and mittens.
The devil asks them again, "It's awfully hot down here, can't you guys feel it?" Again the two guys reply, "Well, like we told ya yesterday, we're from Canada, the land of snow and ice and cold. We're just happy for a chance to warm up a little bit, eh."
This gets the devil a little steamed up and he decides to fix these two guys. He cranks the heat up as high as it will go. The damned are wailing and screaming everywhere. He stops by the room with the two guys from Canada and finds them in light jackets and bucket hats, grilling sausage and drinking beer. The devil is astonished. "Everyone down here is in abject misery, and you two seem to be enjoying yourselves."
The two Canadians reply, "Well, ya know, we don't get too much warm weather up there in Vancouver so we've just got to have a cook-out when the weather's THIS nice."
The devil is so furious, he can hardly see straight. Finally he comes up with the answer. The two guys love the heat because they have been cold all their lives. The devil decides to turn all the heat off in Hell.
The next morning, the temperature is below zero, icicles are hanging everywhere; people are shivering so badly that they are unable to do anything but wail, moan and gnash their teeth. The devil smiles and heads for the room with the two Canadians. He gets there and finds them back in their parkas, toques, and mittens. NOW they are jumping up and down, cheering, yelling and screaming like mad men !!!
The devil is dumbfounded, "I don't understand, when I turn up the heat you're happy. Now it's freezing cold and you're still happy. What is wrong with you two?"
The Vancouverites look at the devil in surprise, "Well, don't you know, if Hell freezes over, it must mean the Canucks have won the Stanley Cup."

Gee, no. I never heard about that game. Montreal vs. Toronto eh? Maybe Shaun can tell us ALL about it.:p

So, we're back on track. I think we'll look good for 7th, maybe even 6th place. 8th place has to play Ottawa. *shivers*

I haven't been getting e-mails showing replies to this thread, I was wondering why it was quiet

Hey WC, that joke was made for the Leafs many many moons ago, ask Shaun, poor buggers probably heard it 1000 times. Actually every hockey joke is started because of the Laufs :p If it wasn't for them, there would me no comedy in hockey. :applaud:

So Shaun, are you still wearing rose colored glasses like the rest of the lauf fans? Like I said though, I do feel bad for ya's, well kinda sorta, well maybe just a tad, well maybe not, nah actually I guess I don't when I really think about it :p :D Actually you're better off not making it anyway so the whole team, management gets blown up. Get rid of the ol' boys club..right...

Man oh man, this divison and conference race is freekin unbelievable. You can sit idle one night and go from 4 to 9. Which brings me to the shitty way the standings are set up. This bugs me every year, even last year when we won our division (so being a homer doesn't apply)

There is going to be probably 4 teams from our conference who won't make the playoffs although they will have way more points than eastern conference teams. So the best teams in the league won't be playing in the playoffs. It should be done on a overall point basis, the top 16 teams go to the show.

Especially when you look at the top teams in each division ie:Wings, Canes, look who they play 8 times,x 3, that's an easy 50-60 points, it's a no brainer.

One more thing, can anyone please explain to me how the Wild fans actually drive to the rink, pay money for tickets and sit there for 3hrs and actually enjoy what they see. And they even cheer the team. I so don't get it. Jauque Lemaire should be banned from the world of hockey. The Wild fans would probably have a freekin heart attack if they seen 2 good free wheeling teams play. Can't help it it's just such a disgusting way to play hockey, watching it is even worse :zombie: And we have to be put through the misery again tommorrow, and I have to watch because the points are so crucial.

Anywho, wonder where Bobby is, looks like they might be getting the Presidents Cup Jinx..oh oh.....

Oh yeah, geez WC, I was really counting on you guys to take out the Av's...thanks alot buddy! :nono:

That Fluke, was actually called "Kipper" I finally fiqured him out..He's a genetic mutant raised in a petrie dish. He was an experiment, the guys not human. Without him the Flames would be Doused in the first round.

FEAR LIRPA!:D

He's the next, Next One. A player from Iceland about to take the NHL by storm.

The history books tell us that Vikings discovered Iceland in the ninth century.

But hockey in Iceland?

That fact is just beginning to dawn on the NHL, and it's all because of a red-hot prospect in an ice-cold country.

His name is Sloof Lirpa, and you've probably never even heard of him. But when the NHL holds its entry draft in Vancouver this June, sources tell Sportsnet there's a good chance Lirpa will make his way to the podium. Squib Jackson spent the 1980's and early-90's bird-dogging for the Toronto Maple Leafs and now runs an independent scouting service.

"There hasn't been a lot of buzz around this kid," says Jackson. "But then again, Iceland isn't exactly on the beaten track."

No kidding.

With apologies to Squib, that's like saying he and the Leafs made an error in judgment when they took Jim Benning instead of Al MacInnis in the first round of the 1981 draft. Squeezed between the Greenland Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, Iceland's population is under 300,000. But in the tiny town of Reykjavik, big Sloof Lirpa cuts an imposing figure. Built like a Norse god, Lirpa is a chiseled 6' 4 and 240 lbs.

"He's exactly the same size as Eric Lindros and even though Sloof's only 18 years old, you can see that he's got loads of skill," raves Jackson.

Playing with the Reykjavik Reindeer in the Iceland Elite League, Lirpa is the loop's leading scorer. He's chalked up 62 goals and 74 assists in 36 games and with just a few days left in the regular season, the Reindeer have wrapped up first place.

But therein lies the problem.

You see, there are only two professional teams in Iceland; the Reindeer and the Akureyri Icebergs. And to be honest, even Aki Berg could be an all-star in a two-team league. In fact, three years ago, the league actually tried to stage an all-star game. But after realizing that every player in the league had been awarded a spot in the mid-season classic, the idea was put on the shelf after only one attempt.

"Sure, it would be great to see Sloof play against more competition," admits Jackson. "But I haven't seen a player with this much natural talent since I was with the Leafs and we picked Scott Pearson in the first round in 1988."

Ultimately, of course, that move didn't quite work out. But Jackson isn't the only one who has high hopes for Lirpa. Red Turner is the coach of the Reindeer. He moved to Iceland 20 years ago following a lengthy stint behind the bench at Northwest in the Winnipeg high school hockey system. Turner is the one who discovered Lirpa and will never forget the day he first laid eyes on him.

"One of the reasons I moved to Iceland is that I love the outdoors. About ten years ago, I was on my way to a whale hunt when the lead dog on my sled suddenly keeled over. Fortunately, the Lirpa family farm was just down the road and Mr. Lirpa came to the rescue, mushing his dog sled……..and Sloof was at the front with three Huskies pulling the darn thing!"

It turns out Lirpa's father is a fitness fanatic and often strapped young Sloof to a dog sled as the ultimate strength-building exercise. Because of erosion from numerous volcanic eruptions, there are almost no trees in Iceland. But Lirpa's legs are as large as the trunk of the biggest oak known to man.

"The kid has tremendous power," says Turner. "That's why I play him on the wing. When he uses his size and strength, he's almost impossible to keep away from the net."

Pete Gordon skated for Turner at Northwest High back in Winnipeg and is now a 38-year-old veteran playing out the string in Iceland. He centres Lirpa's line with the Reindeer and they've developed a close bond.

"I don't mind watching out for him because he's young and he's a good-looking kid, too," grins Gordon. "Last summer, my sister, Sarah, came over for a visit and I had to keep a close eye on Sloof because Sarah is set on becoming a nun."

So, Lirpa has an eye for the ladies but as the NHL draft approaches, he's doing his best to stay disciplined.

"Right now, we're working on his foot-speed," says Turner. "One of our favorite Sloof foot-drills is to have him stand out in the middle of a lake during the spring thaw. When the ice starts to melt, you've got to run like hell to make it to shore and Sloof's getting closer and closer every year."

So, it's old-school training for a new breed of hockey player.

His name is Sloof Lirpa

If you're smart, you'll study his name, front to back and back to front.

And trust me.

The Leafs are already checking him out.

After all, that's how they landed Landon Wilson in the first round back in '93.

I'll talk with you next week.

And no it's not fun to watch it's freekin nerve racking. Especially when the dickheads actually have played with some consistancy for the first time since the start of the season. :banghead:

Lets hope for a great entertaining game, god knows I need one after this week :applaud: :applaud: Oh man and WC will be there lucky dawg......

Phfttt.......spoke too soon...geez sorry you had to drive to that game and spend money for that no show WC. You guys should have demanded you get a refund. We do when they pull that crap. Sure 2 points are nice but not like that, but hey 2 pts are 2 pts especially down the stretch hey. Burkeys prolly not as happy with that win either, hopefully we'll meet in playoffs and have a real game. Phftt... not if they pull this shit anymore though.:banghead: They Might as well have stayed in the dressing room.......

Sorry buddy waste of moola......

Phftt......Thanks anyway bud, but ya might as well stick a fork in us..we's done...arseholes......I just hope we get smoked the last few games now, make them look like complete fools. I kept the faith as long as possible, but well, I guess I'll have to join my buddy watching our useless teams pack their golf bags. (unless of course he still thinks they can pull it off.:p
I must say it was the most disapointing season I can remember. And I aint gonna let them off because of injuries either. Like I said a while back, blow it up and build around the Sedin, Carter Line.

In a sad kinda way I'm glad they won't make the big show, so management doesn't decide to stick with the core AGAIN because they made it. A major meltdown would be best, sad to watch, but, what's best for the team.

I so looked forward to trash-talking all you guys we played in the playoffs, but, oh well, I keep telling myself springs here, it's too nice to be in the house infront of the idiot box anyway.

Phftttt... I've got tickets for our final game against the Av's (Fan appreciation Night..Phftttt.. ) It was supposed to be great night keeping our reign on the Division by 1 or 2 points over the Av's, a celebration heading into the playoffs.

Phfttt.. Fan appreciation..yeah ok, them giving their jersey's off their back, I'd probably throw it back on the ice .:hahaha: tell them I wouldn't wipe my butt with it. Hopefully we'll be mathematicaly out before then and I'll give up my tics to a couple kids in chairs at Variety. I should just do it now anyway, but, if by some miracle we have a chance at that game, I'd kick myself for not being there.

Oh boy, now they sit for 4 days, lol wonder how far down they'll go by then :zombie:

So anywho, Go Frogs Go!,,,Go Sens Go! And well Oilers too I guess, and lil Duckies as well, for my buddies and for Burkey.:applaud:

Actually I'm not, I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that they won't make it. I'm watching of course, but I have no faith in these guys anymore. Sure, I celebrated Jovo's goal and all, but it was for his comeback, not winning the game. I've lost it man.

I was hoping to be put out of my misery by now. Now I won't be till the double header with the Sharks. Who knows which Nuck team will show up for that?

These guys don't deserve to be there anywho. Well the so-called top line anyway. lazy floaters. Oh by the way did ya see Bert lay out Pheneuf, what a hit, I normally would've been yee-ha'in, but all I said was " Where were those hits all season jerkoff?" People around the league say we're so hard on these guys. Well ya! we know what they're capable of, we've seen it, expectations were high, the new rules, no one could stop us. .phfttt...

Anyway, who knows, lets just say I'm not holding my breath anymore. No stressing, no ups and downs, quite relaxed actually. Who knows maybe if they knock off the Sharks both games, I might get some faith back.

PS: WC...Hope they show up tommorrow for you Duckheads, at least put forth a half-assed effort, unlike the last game we played you... Flip a coin on which team shows up......

Another PS: Hey, I'd luv to get rid of Rutuu too, ( I can't stand that tongue wagging lil shithead)., along with Bert, & Morrison, Park, etc..
