Dennis you shouldn't have wrote the "S" word, you probably jinxed them (lol) God it's between periods and I had to roll around and do something, I was falling asleep watching the game almost (and its the bloody playoffs) I don't know how wild fans can actually pay money to go and watch those games, never mind season tickets. They must really pour back the beer or coffee or something.
Talk about BORING!!!, no the trap aint pretty, it's freakin UGLY. It truly is a shame that hockey isn't being played the way it's meant to be played (with talent and skill) This isn't hockey its a disgrace to the game.
OK, I've vented, now I better go drink a pot of coffee so I can watch the rest of the game and try to pretend this is playoff hockey. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/mad.gif

QUACK !!! QUACK !!! QUACK !!!
Geez, who woulda thought 2 months ago " If we get by the Wild, will we be able to get by the Ducks?" http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif I could almost pinch myself, is this really happening? No offence to you Duckheads. It's just, who woulda thunk it? Keep on going!!QUACK...QUACK.... (Tee-hee Tee-hee), Stars fans are just freakin, there message boards are hillarious, saying it's fixed and everyones getting paid off, it's a joke, couldn't happen to a better bunch of guys!! They were so arrogant when we played them, like they were gods gift to hockey, I luv this!!

NHL = No Hope League ???
Help !! I cant get my hands down... First we killed USA, now we almost killed Canada ending on score 2-2.. And this is the first time ever for Denmark to be in world championship finals.. Poor danish odds compilers they had set denmark with handicap 4 and still gave almost 4 times money back, i bet they loose big time today *lol*
How do you feel about getting your ass wipped this way ? :-)

Hey vic,
I like to remind you, the Danes are making a return to the A pool at the world championship after a 54-year absence, (where ya been ?) the last time you were there Canada clobbered Denmark 47-0 at the 1949 world championship. (LOL)
Need I say more ?
As far as I am informed, denmark never played a world championship in the A-pool but you probably know better :-) where have they been...hmmm they did win the b-pool not long ago and otherwise..I dont think they even know themselves :-) But you cant hang on to what happened half a century ago, today Denmark almost kicked the poor Canadians a** and it was not because they didnt have enough chances to score, denmark simply were way better than canada had expected *lol* By the way, just to rub it in... Dan Jensen that scored the first Danish goal is Canadian.. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Quack Attack !
I can't wait till Saturday, GO DUCKS ! Send home those Stars fans like we did to Detroit.. One note from the two home Anaheim games vs. Dallas. They did not sing the National Anthem before the game because it has the line "Whose broad stripes and bright stars" .. when the word "Stars" comes up all the Dallas fans shout "STARS" and they did not want to give them that chance...instead they sang America the Beautiful both days (lol). You are right about those Stars fans MG, they take after Mike Modano...whine, whine, whine.
I'm so bummed, ESPN is not showing the Wild/Canucks game on TV at all :-( I'll have to listen to it over the internet..Go Wild !!

http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif Gee, I'm hurt Dennis, "Go Wild", huh, whats with that, you were cheering for the Nucks earlier. Oh, I know, I just realized "duh" you don't want to play us, cause ya know we'll, "cook your goose", "baste your birds", "pluck your ducks", "clip your wings". But only if you don't attack with the patented "Flying V" (Oh no what will we do?) http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif
PS: That's bogus they don't carry our series at all, but then again, unless you have some emotional attachment to either team, it's a pretty boring series with the Wild's ultra boring style of play, your really not missing much.It probably sounds better over the internet, I know our guys on CKNW98 (Shorty&Tom) do an awesome play-by-play and color, they always make it exciting no matter what. Is that who you listen to?
OH, and Vic, Yeah, that was pretty brutal getting smoked 2-2 like that, god I hope they don't do that again. It sucks getting ur ass wiped like that! Please God, not again!

M-Girl - you are pretty funny....I was happy when the Blue Jackets came into the league because someone else had a worse name than the Might Ducks.....I guess you missed a prior post, I am originally from Minnesota so when the Wild beat the Avs I had to jump on the Wild band wagon too... home state ya know... Who knew the Wild would do that ! Anyway I don't expect them to win three in a row again and if not it could be Canucks/Ducks western finals ! You're right about it being boring though...unless your last playoff win was 11 years ago when the NORTH STARS won a series...I imagine the MN folks are really happy to be there and any Hockey is exciting for them. Looks like we are going to be on the opposite side of the fence unless my Ducks don't win...
Friday I watched the 3ot Devils/Lighting series so I didn't get to listen to the Wild/Canucks game, I would listen to whatever is on NHL radio but never go to it... I think the Devils/Lighting game ended after the Wild/Canucks. I'm going be at the Ducks/Stars game later so I'll miss the Wild/Canucks tonight also. Go WILD !

HOLY DUCK!!! NO DUCKING WAY!!!!!
Do you believe it? Quack! Quack! Let me be the first to congratulate you Mighty Duckheads, and you were even there Dennis! That must have been awesome in the pond. That last 10mins was unbelieveable.(I switched over)That was so SWEET when the tv camera showed Madano walking to the dressing room, head hangin to his knees. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy hey.
Hey Nate, I never doubted it either, stay tuned for a all Canadian final Bud!
Shessh! As far as our game went, No comment, well no, I can't not comment, thank god I didn't pay good money to see that game, what a stinker. Hey Dennis, trade ya Cloutier for Guiguere http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif No I'm just joking, I must have faith, everybody played bad.(except for Klatter) But I sure wouldn't mind Guiguere, he's really something aye.
I'm not really mad though, I decided yesterday on 7 games, thats how the Canucks do things, they have to stress you out as much as possible. Geez, I'd even say in triple OT, just to twist the knife a lil' more.
Oh well, going to bed...quack quack....quack quack......quack.................

This should be fun. The 'nucks have to take care of Minnesota first though. Ask Colorado about closin' the Wild out...
Side note: I coach my son's 9-10 year old team and we're going for an undefeated season in our championship game tonight. My son plays goalie and is a big J.S. fan. Wish us luck...

What a Quack UP !
Thanks MG ! That game was a blast ! After Dallas scored in the first the Pond was really quiet for most of the the period, even the piped in noise did not help much...but after the tied it in the second period that place went nuts ! Wish I would have taped it...Two rounds done and 8-2 at that...WOW UNBELIEVABLE is about all I can say. What are they putting in the water in Anaheim ? The Angels win the World Series last October and now the Ducks are making their best run ever. Hope I can get tix for the next round too...can't wait...
Can't believe that 7-2 spanking the Wild gave the Canucks, where did that come from ? Bad news for MN though, they are like 1-4 at home :-( An all Canadian finals MG ? Not all the Ducks players are from Canada, there are some europeans and americans also :-)
Hey gvinton - good luck to the youngsters ! Let us know how they do..

Wow a JS fan, Ya never know hey, anything can happen, he may be following in his footsteps. Them there goalies are a breed of their own, not your ordinary hockey player, he's very fortunate to have that desire and skill to goaltend. Good on him, and hope he keeps it up!

http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif Right-on gvinton! That's great, you must be proud.
Oh god, I know, the boys have thoroughly peed off a many people. They just aren't playing good at all, it really sucks, well last chance to get their poop together in 2 hrs from now(and they better)If they would just play the way they did game 7 against the Blues, (or the whole season for that matter) they'd smoke em, but who knows, no one has any answers on why they're not playing that way now. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/mad.gif Hopefully Crow will pull Clout's right away if needed and not wait till its too late. I mean geez, do or die, not a time to spare feelings or worry about confidence, it's probably shattered already anyway. And if Bert doesn't score, I'll use his t-shirt as a rag!(no I won't, just mad)
Well, hopefuly next time I talk to you guys, it will be about game 1 in Vancouver and our game predictions, and razzing http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif, it'll be fun.

http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif Well that's that, what a drag, that was not supposed to happen.(that's hockey)But, I wasn't shocked either, they only really played one really good game the whole playoffs anywho (game 7 vs Blues) They didn't deserve to win this series, the Wild played a better game, and earned the win. And yes, now I really, really want JS, pleeeessse. Actually, I hope for you duckheads sake, he's not just a one year wonder, like Montreal's goalie last year. Poor Cloutier, he's really getting it, there's even a picture of him in the crease with a beachball in the net behind him. Geez, I feel bad for him, he just can't handle the pressure of playoffs, I don't know if he'll be back next season (big decision) It wasn't just him though, everyone was to blame.
I just have to remember the awesome regular season, it was a wild ride, and I loved every minute of it!
Oh well, only about 16wks till camp, can't wait! http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif (for us anyway) you Brat Duckheads!
Good Luck you Quackers, I will have to throw my support to the Wild though, theres 5 BC boys on the team, and well they really deserve it. Also for the the fans, they're awesome supporters of their team, and hockey in general, I'm happy for them in Minny, after losing their team and all, and now this.
Did ya get tickets for this round Dennis? I hope so, it'll be Wild (pun intended) I'm curious too, how many w/c spots do you have at the pond?
PS: I guess I have to put my towel waving lil happy face away, he's so cute, don't you agree? Here's that pic, kinda funny, but geez, poor Clouts http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

M-Girl - you are a good sport, it's hard when your team doesn't win...especially after being up 3-1. No you can't have J.S.... This is one of my dream match-ups, as much as I want the Ducks to win I would not feel too bad if the Wild pulled it out. I did get tickets to game 3 and game 6 for this round so I will be there on Wednesday...another dilemma... it would be fun to go to game 6 but would better to be done and going to finals, it's been 10 years since my Kings went and lost to Montreal :-( I think the Pond has somewhere between 100-150 accessable seats..not very many good ones on the lower level and none down there between the blue lines.

I'm really happy for you guys, too bad you weren't at that game Dennis, I suppose you're going make the final games ya lucky bum. Geez, how much are your tic's for the final series, I'm curious, they must cost a mint, but hey who cares! People think I'm nuts paying what I do for hockey tics, you gotta be a real hockey person to understand. It's pretty exciting, I was at the final series against the Rangers way back when, it was an incredible feeling. I sure hope I get to experience it again....next year I hope!
Sure wish the Senators would play with more intensity or they'll be out too! That would really suck if the devils win.

Quack Quack Quack Quack(4 more wins)
Hey MG, I counted the seats that could be used by wheelchair users at the Pond, on the first level there are 30 in each corner for a total of 120, the second level (club seats) has 60 but only on the end where the Ducks shoot twice, and there may be another 30 - 40 in the upper level, they were hard to see from where we were in game 3 vs the Wild. We were in the Club seats, they were only $75.00 for WC seats where the rest of the Club seats were $115.00 for that round, these are great seats that come with In seat waitress service, Special VIP entrance and elevator, Theatre-style comfortable seating and Access to club restaurant....pretty cool if you can get them. Finals tix go on sale Wednesday so I hope I can get tix then, I'll pass on details then. Hope the Sens can win the next two at least...I would love the see that series go seven games...
Go Ducks !!!
monkeygirl - i just found out about this thread today and i just want to say that .. i LOVE you for it!!! i'm a huge hockey fan (KIngs). i'm appalled that the Ducks are in the finals. it sickens me really. i'm rooting for any team that can beat the Ducks, haha. the Sens won tonight and live to see another game. i still think the Devils are going to take this series. brodeur just needs to shake this loss and win game 6.

Finally, lets get it on!
MG, Staples Center is about 30-40 minutes freeway drive from The Pond. The Kings have always been the only game in town during the playoffs. Kings fans don't "respect" the Ducks, like most NBA fans feel about the Clippers.
Now that I think about it, I don't think Detroit fans "respected" the Ducks either. Oh yeah, Dallas didn't think much of us as well. Minnesota, well I didn't think much of them.
Any Devils fans out there? Jersey in the house? Wanna pick on my Ducks now?

Not quite New York vs Not quite LA....Scott Niedermayer vs Rob Niedermayer...Jiggy vs Marty...it will be interesting to see how the ratings turn out...
I'm still bummed about no tix, I talked to a guy that went to the Pond at 6:30 am the day they went on sale and he was able to get some for all three home games...guess I should have went down there too...The Kings did send out their Season ticket renewals this weekend...with reduced prices too.. I would guess The Anaheim Pond is about 45 miles from the Staples Center where the Kings are...I live in between the two, but closer to the Pond. I can't stand the Ducks during the regular season when they go head to head, it's so much fun to go to the Pond for a Kings/Ducks game because the Kings fans are LOUDER and much more VOCAL than the Ducks fans...it can be like a Kings home game at times WOO HOO GO KINGS GO !!! :-) I'll pass on what I think of the regular Ducks fans for now...being on the bandwagon and all...I'll be jumping off in 13wks like you mentioned MG..maybe then....Hopefully Andy Murray can build on his win at the World Championship in the 2003-2004 Kings Season :-)

Yeah, Dennis, now you know what I had to endure, sucks doesn't it? That's why I'm glad we have Burke and Crow, they absolutely promise they will never play that kind of hockey, it's a disgrace to the game. All we ever play is Run & Gun, End to End, Wide open hockey with mega scoring chances(both teams),Super Exciting, adreneline pumping hockey. So yeah, I don't know how fans put up with it. If we had to play that style to win Lord Stanley, I say forget it, it disgusts me, I'd much rather play hockey the way it's supposed to be played, and not win it thank-you very much! I feel sorry for you guys, I haven't been able to watch much (by choice) it's too boring. I do hope the lil' Quackers do win though!

Hey Gvinton,,,,it's 7:30pm and I'm getting ready to watch the "duck hunt", I mean the hockey game.... Right now, the devils are in the locker room sharpening their pitchforks, for their duck hunt at Arrowhead pond,,,LOL!
Seriously, ducks will probably take this game tonight. But then..........
Enjoy the game hockey nuts!!!

Better put that broom away. I was at the game, it was a blast. It's awesome to see the Pond sold out and with such a great atmosphere. I wish the regular season could be that way...
Marty B. was voted 1 of the Ducks 3 stars of the game. The crowd booed, they didn't get that it was a burn on Marty for scoring one of our goals. Anyway, I still stand by my prediction, Ducks in 6. Quack!

Yipper! Looks Like We Got Us A Series Boys & Girls! It's amazing how one fluke goal can turn a series around. Been there done that, the other way around though! http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/mad.gif If Kariya gets fired up it's a done deal. I must admit the the cute lil' ducklings looked rather good last game. "Mo" is right, plus they're used to travelling and the Dev's aren't.Plus, the players deserve to win, they've put up with so much flack being The Mighty Ducks, one can only imagine what those players have endured.
I mean no disrespect you Quackheads, but I don't think any player grows up dreaming of becoming a Mighty Duck! (lol)

why do Kings fans hate Duckheads, because of what they represent or is it a sincere rivalry?
hi monkeygirl! yes, we Kings fan hate the Ducks out of pure rivalry. not to mention they have one of the most ridiculous team name in all sports. the 'mighty ducks' .. oooo, such an intimidating name. and now that they'd adopted the 'trap', i hate them even more. such a boring style of game to watch. i wouldn't watch the games b/c i don't like either team, but i'm a true hockey fan and feel the need to watch no matter how boring.
also, someone mentioned that going to the Pond to watch games is exciting? i disagree. i've been to a few (regular season AND playoffs) and i think the atmosphere isn't .. ideal. WAY to many little kids running around blowing those annoying 'duck call' whistles. oh my, i had a headache by the time we left. also, i don't particularly care for the layout of the arena. it's too steep. i always feel slightly dizzy looking down at the ice. Staples center is much better, of course.
Brodeur better step up.
that's all i have to say.

That hit Kariya took was pretty hard to watch though, pretty scary. Hey Dennis! & Lena! (incase you guys are ridiculous hockey freaks like me and still eat sleep & breathe puck in July http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif ) Good pick up for you guys, Klatter is a character guy who will bring leadership and poise to young players like he did in Van . His presence in the room as well as on the ice, will be undoubtly missed by fans and team alike. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif
His work ethic is incredible, they'll probably show you guys what intensive rehab he went through to play after his injury a couple years ago. No one human could do what he did, especially at his age. He also really started playing his best hockey in the playoffs, he's not a superstar but he's a good 3rd liner that will definately help you guys out.

Ducks first line should be pretty impressive with Prospal, Federov and Sykora. I will miss Kariya, Mr. Duck, but in all honesty Federov fits into the Ducks new system better.
I would still like to see the Ducks keep Oates and Thomas at least for one more year. We'll see... Quack!

Yeah, you must be a lil' happier hey gvinton!, Looks like Murray has redeemed himself, made you guys better with those deals.( I didn't really know Prospal, not too shabby hey) I take it not to many people are pissed anymore (unless they're total Kariya fans). As for Federov, hope he'll gel with everyone new,(so used to playing with Hall of Famers) and chemistry is there, if so, looks like you'll be in the running again, ya lil' quackers you!

Hey westcoast! Glad ya stopped in, not enough puckheads around here. I guess you Duckheads are happy Giggy and Sykora signed. Seems though all the old guys are have'n to wait around no one wants to sign em cause of the CBA, that must suck for them, but hey, I wouldn't sign em either.
Hey Shaun! I know you're in Saskabush, but are you close to Edmonton? Are you gonna try and go to the Heritage Classic? That would be awesome, experience of a lifetime.
Other than that, I only got tickets for one game this season, vs the Wings in Feb., long wait or what. I'm kinda choked, we passed on the 11 game ice-pak this year, we can only do weekend games and 6 of them were against teams under 500, so, for the money they want for those teams we said screw it. They didn't care anyway the tickets are in such demand now someone was right behind us waiting to buy them. Single game tics went on sale this morning @ 9:30 and by 10:00 only single seats were left for the crappy teams. So all in all I was pretty happy getting a wings game, we got ice level too, have'nt been there in a few years, (In Your Face Yee-ha) Can't wait to see Chelios's face mushed up against the glass! http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Hi MG, Are you referring to Potvin and Storr ? Not a huge loss, I'm more worried about Deadmarsh and Allison..neither one of them look healthy going into the season...Looking forward to see Klatt play, I did get tix to see your Canucks on Oct 30th and again on January 8th. Hey Dennis! No I wasn't refering to Storr & Potvin (especially Potvin http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif)) I was just trying to rattle your chain, playing around, maybe you'd pop in and "say what, who, what, where, and go flying for info?" I was just being a brat that day. I'm so ready for the puck to drop. But geez, key guys hurt'in already? Let's hope it's not another repeat of last year, wouldn't you just freak! http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif That's another reason I hate all these useless mean nothing games, key guys getting hurt already. They don't need all these games, they're coming into camp in awesome shape these days, not like the old days.
Right-on about tics for the Canucks games, they'll be great games. I wish we could have got more, then again it's going cost another $160 just for all the pay-per-view games this year. Oh and of course, gotta save for the playoffs. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I think that he is probably toast too as far as playing again, not physicaly but he will be pretty screwed up being responsible for his best buddies death. Man, I sure feel for him. I hope he can get it together he's a hell of a hockey player, superstar material.
At least he wasn't loaded, that woulda made it even worse. Actually I guess we really don't know exactly what happened, who knows maybe by some fluke, it wasn't Heatley's fault. I hope he dosen't do time. Man, shit happens, him doing time won't bring Snyder back.

Monkeygirl,
Giggy only played in 2 of the 3 games and only gave up one goal in the last. I think he'll be fine. My concern is the lack of offence and team chemistry. Last year the Ducks didn't really "click" till January so this isn't really unexpected given the new faces and the injuries. I would have hoped for better results against Phoenix and Nashville though...
Westcoast,
I'm not stressing (too bad) yet. I think the talent is there. Momentum is a funny thing and I hope their confidence remains high why they work through this and turn things around. You don't want to dig too deep of a whole this early. By the way, "cnuckle heads" was very funny. Sorry MG, but it was...

There is smoke and ash in the air anywhere you go. I'm lucky that I am far from the worst of it. Your Canucks are going to get smoked too...even if it only means breathing the air. I saw the Ducks offered replacement tickets to those who could not make it to the game due to the fires, nice gesture. The Kings are so beat up already, I'm supprised thay are 4-4...they beat the Flyers and lose back to back games to the Sabers and Blackhawks...what the heck was that...they were just outworked both games..plus they have the worst PK in the league...I'm looking forward to Thursday though, four days off may help them..I Hope.

Hey westcoast_gc,
Did you see that Joe and Gavin Maloof, the owners who transformed the NBA's Sacramento Kings from laughingstock to powerhouse, have entered into negotiations to buy the Mighty Ducks from the Walt Disney Co ? There is even talk they could bring the NBA Kings to Anaheim. There was an article in the LA Times on Saturday.
MG, Your Canucks look pretty unbeatable and you were right about that rookie King kid..

gvintons right, conference final, We fell asleep trying to play against the most boring defensive team on the planet. Trap, Clutch, grab, christ those guys are happy to just ice the puck the whole game. That type of game shouldn't even be allowed in the NHL. Ended up we just couldn't adjust to that sh*t when your used to high flying offensive hockey, (the way it's meant to be) Even our defence is up in the play more than the Wilds top line, sick, just plain sick.
Oh yeah as far as trash talk, hey I love it, except last time I trash talked Shaun bout his leafs with pictures, I haven't seen him since. tee-hee. Awe he'll be back, just a typical sulking leaf fan. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

Well my my what a cowinky dink! I check in after a few weeks away only to find my name being abused, you naughty monkey tisk tisk shame on you.
Trash talk eh! ok lets start with the ''Anaheim mighty SUCKS'',and ya ya before get on to the ''WELL WE BEAT YOUR MAKE ME LAUGHS'' which well probably be your shining point this season, i well admit the boys just did'nt show up with the forcheck .Oh wait a minute i forgot im talking to a Ducks fan! you do know what ''the forcheck'' means dont you? Ya know i mean being the second best trapping team next to the wild and then thinking your watching exciting hockey makes me want to cry.The TRAP is not hockey,it was a style developed so that Fluffs could compete and anybody who would argue that point is not a true hockey fan.You should visit your niece in Trail pal because the Smoke eaters play more exciting hockey than the Ducks http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif well that was fun..
Now MG,sulking hardly! The Leafs are havin some problems it's true but we still have only lost 4 regulation games this year.I beleive your looking at a team playing to get a coach fired,Quinn's days are up and the team aint playin for him. Were still gonna kick some Canuck ass saturday night though http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif your gonna feel the pain of frustration,''FAT BURT'' your 7 mill penalty liability wont be shovin anybody around http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif.But anyhoo Quinn will be fired or thee appropriate trade will be made at the end of this of this road trip, and things will be back on track.

The best i could get was a spelling lesson, come on http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif.So ya can spell it to bad the Ducks cant practice it.My friend you seem confused,''Good defence'' i dont think so! The flyers have good defence, the Canucks have good defence there are teams with good defence, the Ducks have the trap and that is not the same as ''Good defence''.If you find the Cup finals exciting being played between to trapping teams then you might as will stick to pointing out spelling and grammar errors in my posts because you seem some what confused as to how hockey was and should be played.May i never live to see the day that the Leafs,Canucks,Flyers or any of the run & gun, hittin, smashin old school style clubs change there systems for the Cup.There not whats wrong with the game! The Ducks are whats wrong with the game, the Wild are whats wrong with the game any team that utilizes the trap as there standard system are slowing down and killing the game of hockey and any Hall of famer will tell you that. And whether it was 2 goals or 3 goals, and i say 3 goals really what does it matter http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif..

Yeah sure, maybe when I walk to the next game. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif
Oh and like I've said before you would do anything to have Bert, and you know it. I say we get rid of the red line! I would be very interested in watching a game played without it and see what it does to the trap.Ya i think Pats time is up and i hope JFJ see's it to.The Leafs are killin me this year they dont want to win,but they dont want to lose and i blame that on no respect for coaching.Iv'e never liked Bert and i cant explain it,but he's your penalty liability ive got enough of my own http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif.
Saturday night, cant wait 5-2 Leafs!High flyin, hittin, smashin no trap playin hockey.Reichel will kick the crap outta Cooke http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif and Sundin will plant Bertuzzi http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif.You couldnt beat us last year and we need those 2 points. But hey! we agree on one thing the trap is bullshit and turning the game into a sport for the elderly and faint of heart.

Hey WC! That was me who said that about the "Oldtimers in Edmonton" I was refering to oldtimers of hockey. I guess I should have said the Alumni Players in the Heritage Classic, that are in Edmonton for the game. These players being the likes of Gretzky, LeFleur, Fuhr, Messier etc. LeFleur actually said he rarely even watches the games on t.v. anymore it's gotten so boring with the trap.
I know, you're just defending your "Big Beaked Buddies", but man if you could watch all our games you'd probably be really pissed watching other hockey after that. We just talked about that on the radio today, we are so spoiled here, and our expectations of seeing a action packed game every night are huge.
You know I honestly have to say I would give up Lord Stanley in a minute if I had to sit through a trapping game every night. I couldn't handle it, nor would the fans, no one would by tickets. If the team goes out every night and gives the effort that I expect, they play a hard fought exciting game, thats all I want. If after playing a good fast, physical, entertaining 60 minutes of hockey, they loose "Oh well..."That's Hockey!" http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

It's hard to argue against run and gun, freestyle, exciting hockey. It's good stuff. The same argument is being made today about basketball, remember the "showtime" Lakers in the 80's. Bottom line is being competitive. The Lakers of today won 3 straight championships with the "triangle offense" - that's about as boring as it gets. Ducks use the trap, and use it well.
It took a while for Babcock to get buy in from players last season. Paulina never really bought in, that's why he's gone to Colorado. After January of last year, Ducks have been among the elite teams in the game - THE DUCKS! Guess what, turns out winning is pretty freaking fun. Fan base in Anaheim has never been better, expectations are higher than ever, roster is better than ever. Duck hockey IS fun to watch. Ask my kids, my wife, it's family time when the Duck game is on. My 5 year old digs Sykora, my 10 year old is a Giggy guy. They both play hockey and I coach both their teams. We don't play trap but I teach team defense and its importance. I'd rather see my teams play a 3-2 game than an 8-7 game anyday...
Canuck hockey is fun to watch and so is Avalanche hockey. I don't know about Leaf hockey - how did they do last night? That said, some of the best, most exciting games I've ever seen ended up 1-0 or 2-1. Duck hockey is what it is, but seeing my boys from Anaheim sweeping the Wings, knocking off the Stars, and whooping the Wild made for a pretty great summer. Here's to June hockey in Anaheim!

I think it appropriate at the peewee level and up. I think the key here is "taught properly". This falls on the coaches. Big hits, cheap hits, and intimidation tactics don't belong in kids hockey. Checking at this age is to separate the puck from the player, period. Unfortunately, many coaches and parents take it all way too seriously. The pressure to win on travel teams, etc. makes people/coaches make bad decisions and set poor examples. Even in house leagues, the parents can be idiots. Just let 'em play...
Having already broken my own neck I know how easy it can happen and I've seen some close calls in our games. I try to do it right as a coach and we play the right way and have a lot of fun. I wish I could say the same for all youth coaches...

Sitting silently on the banks of slough in Manitoba one afternoon,Shaun thought he would try his hand at fishing for the ''fair wheather Sens fan'' although he knew they were somewhat rare right now http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif.He began to chum the water ''HEY! HOW BOUT THOSE SKIRT WEARING MILLY OTTAWA SENATURDS,AND THERE GARY THE RAT FACED LEADER!SOMEBODY WANNA GIVE CRISSY NEIL BACK HIS DOLL SO HE GETS THAT POUTTY LITTLE BITCH LOOK OFF HIS FACE ALREADY,YA BOY THEY SURE ARE LOOKIN GOOD"".He then quietly baited the hook, plopped it in the water and began to jigg, knowing that fishing for this rare specieces takes patience http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Yeah, That sure was priceless watching those guys out there, the smiles on thier faces, like lil kids playing pond hockey. Shoveling ice and snow and freezing their butts off! I just hope everyone doesn't want to do it now, and every year, it'll ruin it.
OK, now 1st off, I totally agree about Ruutu, what a fool he is, he's always a penalty liability, stupid stupid Ruutu. But this diving crap is totally embarrassing. Lets hope the guys made him feel like crap and he won't pull that again!!! http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/mad.gif
That ** DIRTY HIT *** on Chubie injured his shoulder and won't be playing tonight.. lovely! He shoulda got a few games, so sick of hits from behind, they can end players carreers!! Oh and yeah I get choked when we do it too!
I'm actually glad the Laughers won the game too, now maybe they'll address the problem thats been there for last four or five games. That was the 3rd game they got behind by 2 goals, instead of dominating from the get go. So HA HA, I'm glad we lost that game, hopefully it was a wakeup call. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif Anyone could have won that game with such a lack-lustre performance, horrible D, and an anemic powerplay!! Well, I can give the leafs some credit on there good forecheck. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif
Hopefully they'll start back on track tonight.
Oh yeah, did you enjoy Allen using Domi's lil bald head as a punching bag, it reminded me of one of those blow up clowns I had as a kid! http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

The only good thing about that game was May getting Perrott back for the dirty hit on Chubie. Perrott looked like he had lost a jam eating contest at the CountyFair. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif
OH well, like they say regroup, come out hard, play with intensity, don't be lazy, turn it around now.......blah... blah... blah...

Oh Yeah gvinton, WC and Dennis! The sportstalk show I listen to (CKNW98, if you ever want to check it out, theres always people from Cali and the states calling in) are starting a contest where you can win a trip with the team to Cali for the Kings and Duck games in Jan. Man, that would be awesome hey. Geez not only the road trip but I'd probably get to meet some of guys at the games. I know Dennis, you said you got tics for the Nucks games and WC you got seasons, that would be cool hey! http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/cool.gif

No George, I won't be there tonight. I'll be watching on TV. I'll definetly pay you a visit next time I go though...
Ducks haven't played since last Friday but are still clinging to second place in the division (7 or 8 in the conference). Ducks have a point in 8 straight games, I think. Kings have been doing their part by stinking the past couple games. Did anyone see Palffy get whacked in the face the other night, ouch! He was just sitting on the bench...
Tonight should be fun, finals rematch and all. I have no love for New Jersey. I'd like to see Feds get it going, Sykora and Prospal have looked strong lately.
MG, Shaun has shown some nice restraint after taking it to the Nucks like they did. I was sure you'd never hear the end of it.
OK, here goes. Ducks 3. Devils 3.
See how that looks tomorrow. Go Ducks!
Edited to say that I'm never wrong and I should have known it would be a tie...

gvinton, Shaun , well I knew it was a matter of time before he'd post. It's so typical for a poor ol leaf fan to think they played a great game and won because of their play..phffffttt. MG,
Giggy has always been streaky. He set some modern era scoreless streak least year midseason and of course got hot again in the play-offs. The problem against Detroit was in front of him - turnovers and a nonexistent defense. I can score on him if I'm alone in front of the net. He had no help. He got pulled when it was 4-0. It was just a change of pace and an effort to keep his confidence up I think...
3 points separate all teams in our division right now. That's fortunate given their play so far.
We need a Maplelucks type of streak to get us going...

Gee Whiz, looks like I have some catching up to do..
Shaun - you are a funny guy.. that bit about fishing for the "fair wheather Sens fan" was great ! Made me think what are you going to do if you catch one ? Throw it back if it's too little... stuff it and mount it on the wall...catch, tag and release...and is there a daily limit...
MG - Wow I home you win the contest, that would be so cool if you could come south and check out our arenas, yup, I'll be there in January
GV and GC - I gotta share this even though it's not original...
A Tie is like Kissing your Sister...
A Overtime Loss is like French Kissing your Sister...(YUCK)....your Ducks are leading the league in this category...
While that consecuive point streak was good.. 82 points won't get you into the playoffs...
I was able to get tix for the Kings @ Ducks on January 7 and on Leap day in February too, it will be interesting to see whose fans are more vocal, should be fun !
The trade with Pens to get Straka (sp?) was a nice pickup...hope he stays healthy..I'm really supprised my Kings have been able to win as much as they have with all of their injuries, this Pacific division is up for grabs and it's still early...

Oh here we go,... Just in from Detroit Free Press:.. "The Unexplained Shortage of "Geritol Extend" from store shelves was answered today as security at the Joe Louis Arena stumbled upon hundreds of containers stashed in the locker of an employee with the Detroit Redwing Hockey Club. A further investigation is underway, some have speculated that this could be the reason behind the hockey teams abundance of goals in the last month. There are about 5 pretty good ones here that made it to tv, but this is my fav. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
You gotta check it out, it's hillarious, & of course speakers on.

Hello Hockey site. Hey MG my last final is friday and I have a month off. I'm thinking road trip to my sister's home in Seattle. Ducks Play the Canucks Jan. 17th, sat. How far is it to your arena from Sat. I want to go to that game if I can score some tickets. Some info would be great. Thanks.... Go Ducks

Hey WC! Geez, Seattle to here (GM Place) is just a hop, skip & a jump, or shall I say a wheelie, wheelie & a wheelie. It's about 100-130 miles. About 2.5- 3hr.cruise. That's the easy part, getting a ticket is a whole new ballgame (i mean hockeygame) All the games for the entire season are sold out, except for singles here and there. So getting a w/c ticket is pretty much impossible. Oh, yeah I phoned last year a couple days before a game and they had released a few more tics, and I lucked out that way once. Give ticketmaster a call, who knows, there might even be one now.
I mean after all it is just the Ducks, certainly not a team thats high on the list as gotta see teams http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif tee-hee, tee-hee.
That would be cool though if you could get tics. So hey, did ya enjoy the Man on the Moon commercial? http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Too bad you couldn't win those tickets, we can usually get tix for future games as most don't sellout till game day IF they do sell out...

LOL LOL LOL...Four feet tall and one eyebrow...lol lol.. That was hilarious, Santadomi, I don't think I'll ever be able to think of him as just Domi now, I'll always see him with the santa hat, and I'll start singin "Santadomi, 4ft tall and one eyebrow!" LOL, LOL...
Oh and as far as those Lafs, if it wasn't for Eddy keeping his team every night you'd be hooped! http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif I wouldn't start plannin the parade route yet there bucko, if he gets hurt you're doomed. But hey, like I said enjoy while you can, so am I, after all they are a Canadian team, I pretty much have to like them, theres so few of us left. Gotta be shocked at the Flames and the Oil hey, god this games weird and so unpredictable hey. Guess thats why we love it so much!
Hey Dennis! Yeah should be a great game... well, if we stop this sick scoring drought we're in, and go back to getting it on the net down & dirty, instead of trying for the picture perfect goals grrrrrrrr. Nice to watch, but I'd rather more goals! Nucks 4 Kings 3 OT (of course, whats new) like kissing your sister is right,lol..we've tied so many games so far it's not funny, at least we do better 4 on 4 cause we can move with extra ice, but man enough is enough.

Thanks for the concern MG. Earthquakes are a reality that non of Californians want to experience. Good come back by you team. My brother is a Kings fan and he, to say the least is pissed. Everytime the Kings are up by 3 points, he says, oh no that dreaded 3 point lead again, lol, Have a Merry Christmas to all you crazy Hockey Fans!!!!

Just incase anybody is interested in Nassy's new Nike commercial for the new contest they're running. It's to get rid of the trap and encourage good offensive hockey in young kids. Here's an excerpt from an article:
Naslund and Kovalchuk will lead Nike's "Light It Up" campaign, aimed at
inspiring young players to embrace a more offensive style of play and at
fostering excitement about the creativity and beauty which hockey was built
on.
As part of the "Light It Up" campaign, Nike will stage a series of
Breakaway Showdown events in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal, which
will allow hockey-crazy kids to show off their stick handling and deke skills.
Their moves will be digitally recorded and entered into a national competition
to find Canada's most creative breakaway. Full article @:

When you get to the site, to shorten it up, there's "skip" down in the corner, then click ya "want in" and then "watch the ad" It's pretty cool. Not just because it's Naslund, http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif the whole concept is great.

Alright, forget all the standings and points, etc. (please) We've got Carecure bragging rights on Friday. Ducks/Nucks. Any wagers? Monkey has to post that the Ducks are the superior hockey organization in the event of a Duck win...? And the trap rules...?

Count me in gvinton !
Bragging Rights ? The Kings will have bragging rights after the finish off our feathered friends to the south tonight and the the Canucks on Thursday, back to back games vs my CC rivals WOO HOO, I'll be at both games, for the Duck Hunt tonight I'll be in section 312 with the in seat waitress service (sweet). We won't be blowing any more three goals leads either Kings 3 Ducks 2. And as for the Canucks... no more ties like last game MG, we will win this one in another shootout 4-3.

Sorry Dennis.
Didn't mean to forget you're winless in the past 8 Kings... The battle for SoCal tonight, should be fun. Ducks are good at home. I see a modest 2 game win streak in our near future.
The losers will humbly pronounce the other team superior.
I was at Ducks/Stars and may go Friday to Ducks/Nucks but I'll watch tonight on TV.
Good luck all...

Well, round 1 was a draw. I think the Ducks should get bonus points for actually scoring 4 goals however. If Kings and Ducks both beat the Nucks then we have Co-Carecure Champions.
Isn't "rivalry week" fun?
By the way, Leafs were disqualified early in the year due to a 5-1 trashing at the hands of the Ducks. (and no one gets thrashed by the Ducks this year)

OMG, never, only in your dreams, I would rather die a slow painful death! (lol)
The way we're playing right now though, dare I say, you just may win. Nah, we'll win. Thing is though, both Kings & Ducks are on pay-per-view only, and I may only get one game. I'm having a hard time justifing paying to watch the dreaded trap. I'll probably pass on the quackers, and just watch the highlights on tv, the highlights we'll probably be the only exciting part of the game anyway. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif Actually, I probably will, I also have a hard time not watching a game, especially it being my buddies from Cali. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif
Nucks 3 Beaks 1
Oh man Dennis, just heard about Ziggy, unbelieveable, what a jinxed team, do you believe it, the Kings must be the record holders for most man games lost. But, oh well, we are gonna beat ya regardless of who's playing!
Nucks 4 Queenies 2
Oh yeah, speaking of pay-per-view, how many of your guy's games are televised on regular tv? I believe we have about 70 of ours regular tv and the rest are pay-per-view at $11 a pop. Do you have any pay-per-view games at all?
Man, these we're the games I was supposed to be there for if I won the contest, that would've been so awesome. Oh and gv, you really should go to our game, it will leave you breathless watching us play, http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif, oh but then again, you may also leave depressed. I would risk it anyway, you'll be glad you did.
