My brother received this response from Assemblyman Merkt of District 25. (Boonton Town, Boonton Township, Denville Township, Dover Town , Jefferson Township, Mendham Township, Mine Hill Township, Morris Township, Morristown Town, Mount Arlington Borough, Mountain Lakes Borough, Randolph Township, Rockaway Borough, Rockaway Township, Roxbury Township, Victory Gardens Borough, Wharton Borough)

My brother did reply countering his arguments but hasn't heard back yet.

> Thank you for your recent letter urging my support of the Stem Cell Research
> Bond Referendum. I must admit that I am inclined not to support this
> issue when it reaches a floor vote in the Assembly.
>
> My opposition is based on three points: 1) ethical concerns about how
> these cells are obtained; 2) my understanding that there are alternative
> sources for stem cell research; and 3) my belief that this policy should be
> determined at the federal, rather than state, level of government, so that
> the rules of such research are consistent from state to state.
>
> Although we do not agree on this issue, I appreciate hearing your views.
>
> Sincerely,
