Understanding the signs, symptoms, and treatment for pre-menopause in women with SCI to determine:
1. the prevalence of subjective perimenopausal symptoms in women with SCI living in the community;
2. if women with SCI report perimenopausal symptoms at earlier ages than what is reported for the general population;
3. the preventive/treatment modalities being used by women with SCI to manage perimenopausal symptoms;
4. if women with SCI who have evidence of osteoporosis on bone densitometry stabilize or improve after a regimen of hormone replacement therapy (HRT); and
5. if the frequency of subjective perimenopausal symptoms decrease more for women with SCI who are treated with HRT compared to herbal preparations or no treatment.
