A friend of mine cooked this today on his grill. That's an open can of beer inside the chicken. He seasoned and basted it but won't tell me what he used. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif
When I find out, I'll post it here.

i've heard (but haven't tried it) this works well w/ anything in a can.....if you like orange, use orange soda or orange juice, grape soda or grape juice, apple juice, etc....
beer isn't necessary.
the flavor of the liquid imparts itself into the meat of the chicken, so use something you like.
wine might work too.
just find an empty can, and pour in whatever you like the taste of.
My brother is cooking our thanksgiving turkey this way except with a much bigger turkey and an oil can of Foster's Lager. We've been doing it for years....very tasty. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

He says he seasoned it with a basic poultry seasoning and basted it with--ok, I know this is going to gross out some people--bacon grease while it cooked. Then he mixed the bacon grease with some Pig Stand BBQ sauce (DA, think it's the same as that place in Beaumont), and basted it with that. I didn't eat any of it, but he and his boys seem to have liked it.
BTW, I love the sound of the fruit juices ... http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif
That looks like a cool idea. Guess I could manage to give up one beer for a tasty chicken. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

Yall got to come to Texas. I took a big can of Foster's (pop the top), put a jalapino in the can, shoved it up a cleaned turkey's ass, added season, and slapped it on the grill (big tree eating kind, smoker for the yanks). Almost 4 hours later I had Beer Can Turkey.

Wine with italian seasonings in oven is good. But the herbs with the wine in a can up the chicken's back end, and rub some of the herbs on the bird. And bake.
