What sweetner do you use ... in your coffee/tea, on your cereal, on fruit, etc.?
Refined sugar? Equal? Splenda? Sweet N Low? Honey? Unrefined sugar?
I recently started using honey in my coffee. A neighbor was telling me that I was smart to buy local honey ... something about increased resistance to allergies? I'd never heard that before.

I use brown unrefined sugar. Not the powder, but the bits. Oh, what a wonderful English, but I have birthday today and we had some glasses of white wine http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

I'm no nutrition expert - but I have heard over the years that honey has great immune system boosting properties. Honey was traditionally used in treating wounds (I'm not sure which cultures used it or how wide spread the practice was).
At any rate - I love local honey. I used to see the hives set up in local orchards this time of year - next to the newly planted pumpkins getting ready for fall. This is in New Jersey - believe it or not!

Thank you. I am delighted. Birtday greetings across the ocean http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif
Martha, I do not feel the difference between 49 and 50. LOL, yesterday morning I was crying because I thought I was growing old. And without a husband and a bunch of children.

I use Sweet and Low in coffee, but on cereal? Ugh - I use fruit as my sweetener for that.
Bees, honey , etc. are gaining a reputation for having healing properties. Debbie and I watched a show some time ago about a woman with MS who regularly had bee sting therapy. Presumably her symptoms were much diminished because of it. Heck if I know, but since Debbie's highly allergic to bees, it ain't a therapy she'll be trying anytime soon. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif

I use regular Sugar in my coffee/tea. I must be weird because artificial sweeteners (Sween-n-Low, Equal, and even Splenda) all taste bitter to me and leave a nasty aftertaste in the back of my mouth that I can't get rid of for hours.
I've had things cooked with Splenda, and they taste great though.
My mom uses one Sweet-n-Low and one Equal in her coffee. http://www.pbase.com/image/31457441/original.jpg

Learn from the mistakes of others, you won't live long enough to make all of them yourself.
I buy big bags of Splenda and keep a container filled. If they don't have it where I am I use either the pink or the blue. Atkins recommends Splenda. And I think very high doses are safe in rats.

I have been using honey in my coffe lately.
The price of honey went sky high because we had no queen bees and there was something about importing them from the states.
I wonder if they charged the ones with something if they flew over the border by themselves, talk about politics, that was ridiculous...i also use sugar. i haven't heard much on splenda but will most likely check it out as a friend uses it.it's all sweeet..
