Now maybe I've been having way too much fun lately but I was just wondering what your favorite mixed drinks were and how do you make them. Some of my old favorites are getting just that...old. If you aren't into mixed drinks what is your refreshment of choice? http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Mixed drink favorite: gin & tonic, usually 3 parts tonic, one part gin, twist of lime.

Frozen drink favorite: margaritas, lime or strawberry

Chilled chardonnay, nice, smooth red wine, ice cold beer.

On a really, really bad day, if I'm at my parents' house, my dad will fix me a martini http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif ... not a favorite though.

I like margaritas on the rocks, especially if it's made with topshelf ingredients and not a mix.

Another favorite is a white Russian.

Before my SCI and before I got an apartment, when I was living in the dorm, they didn't allow alcohol to be kept in the rooms, and they'd do room checks every now and then. They always looked in your fridge, but never checked the freezer.

I kept a bottle of tequilla and rum in the freezer. Rum and Coke was always a good night time drink to help me sleep. I don't know how I ended up with this combo, but grapefruit juice and tequilla with salt was another drink I used to make. I think I got it from idrink.com (http://www.idrink.com), but I don't remember the name.

I used to bartend before and it was dead one night so customers and i messed around with the ice cream and blender for a bit and came up with this: (all estimated amounts)
2 cups van. ice cream
1 shot 1/2 kamora
1 shot vodka
1 shot cream de cocoa
blend for 25 seconds
add more or less to
satisfy your taste buds!!!

in the winter on a cold lazy day a shot of buttershots mixed with hot cocoa is really relaxing.

here's two quickies:

1: bannana, shot of blue cuaco, shot of rum, pinaple juice, coconut rum to top

2: 1 shot almond liquor, 1 shot coconut rum, 1 shot rum, top with coke.

Got a hundred more if needed.

When I'm watching my calories my standby's are rum or Jack Daniels and diet coke. Love a good Margarita, too. Lately, I've developed a taste for decent quality beer (draft or bottled, properly poured into a glass only), like Red Hook or the occasional pint of Guiness.

My favorite is the Gin & Tonic. I use what I believe is the standard recipe.
2oz of Gin I prefer Bombay or Beefeaters
5oz of Tonic
I squeeze a small lime section and add it.
Put ingredients in a glass with 4 or 5 small ice cubes.

I'm on my way to fix one now.

I bartend, so I've got tons of drinks, but one of my favorites is Kahlua Fizz- 1 shot Kahlua, 1 shot Baileys, top with coke- tastes like an old fashioned chocolate soda. (be careful, they have to be oured in that order or it will curdle)

Long Island Teas, made my way:

2 count vodka, gin, tequila and simple syrup (sugar water) with extra good 3 count rum, triple sec and limesjuice, fill rest of the way with 7-up, more sour than 7, coke to color and lemon. Yum! http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

When I was in my early 20s, I had a party at my apartment. We tried a drink called a Rabbit's Foot. Don't remember much about that night, but I heard about it from the more sober partiers. My brother found me in a nearby tree, singing at the top of my lungs. A friend of mine ended up in my bathtub (no water) but had a whole package of Oreos in there with her, pretending the tub was a big swimming pool for Oreos. Another friend befriended a cotton ball and walked around introducing it as his date. A mean guy knocked it out of his hand and then stomped on it, and the other guy started crying. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif

It was a strange night. I've never had another Rabbit's Foot since then. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I drink whatever rum is cheapest. Combine it with diet coke. When I'm not cheap and dieting [rarely] I really like apple schnapps and 7-Up. It has a unique, tart flavor.

When on vacation and had a little bit too much fun the night before and the morning waves are too loud and the sunglasses aren't working, bloody Mary(s), with worteschire + extra tobasco and rimmed with celery salt, garnish with celery (got to have your veggies). Repeat as necessary until patient is ready to rejoin the human race.

International Note:
If vacationing in Canada substitute Clamato juice for Tomatoe, far more civilized.

Quickie daquiri-
1- 6oz can frozen limeade into the blender
fill can with vodka- into blender
fill blender with ice- make slushees

This works with tequila and triple sec, or rum too

One of my cousins tends bar. We had a memorial/wake for one of my uncles recently, with a bunch of Costco trays of food. One of the trays was fresh fruit- strawberries, pineapple, melons, maybe even grapes. He'd toss a bunch of fruit in the blender, add rum and ice.....we had these at my friend's bachelorette party last weekend.

A friend took a bartending course once, and made root beer floats. I wish I could remember the exact recipe, but it had creme de cacao, Galliano, cream, and coke in a glass. It looked and tasted just like a real root beer float. You'd only know the diff when ya tried to stand up :) A shot of cream, fill with coke, but I don't remember the alcohol ratios.

Seabreezes, mai tais, blue Hawaiians......
