Jim this is an excellent post. I was thinking about our college students and some of our other younger members on their own now. Ramen is inexpensive and easy to prepare--kind of the mac and cheese of my college days. The variations given here will make the dishes a little more interesting.

Thanks. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

Heck yes, my fav thread yet!

I love oriental flavored Ramen, a sliced hotdog, and a slice of sharp cheese combined with a slight dash of garlic powder. YUM!

Living alone? Need to eat?

2 words: Ramen Soup

OK, seriously, if you don't want to make the sauce; just put olive oil, black pepper, and parmesan cheese on the pasta after you serve it, its called "poor man's pasta"... should be "lazy bastard's pasta"...

I was in college when I was injured, maybe that's why I still eat them. The little college town I lived in had a discount grocery store where you could buy a case of ramen for $3. They had every flavor and brand of Ramen there is, and a whole isle dedicated to them. My favorite was the Maruchan Hot & Spicy Picante Chicken. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif

They also had generic Mac & Cheese for 25cents a box, that was every bit as good as the name brand. I'd buy a pack of cheese slices and put a slice or two in with it to give it that extra cheesey kick.

The grocery stores here (Kroger & Wally World) only carry chicken and beef flavor ramen. Every now and then Wal-Mart will get some of the Hot & Spicy ones, and I stock up when they do.

As a poor starving college student, I learned that it is entirely possible to live on $5/month food & beverage budget.....
The key? Ramen Noodles and Kool-Aid :D
Lemme tell 'ya, I may not have eaten "well" but I ate every day and I had something tasty to drink :D

I still enjoy ramen noodles. :D I like the instant lunch ones in their own cup too, they're so quick and easy when ya don't wanna make a mess :p

True they're cheap but there isn't an ounce of nutrition in Ramen!

lol, discovered if your hard up for hot water, you can break up the ramen and eat it like crackers, not the best by any means, but it can help fill a hungry stomach :D

TOOO funny :applaud: . Didn't Martha Stewart say something about learning to make Ramen cuisine in prison? I recall burritos??
Creamy chicken is good, and teriyaki beef.
Creeps, you reminds me of someone.... do people tell you that you look like so-and-so?

Me? Pork flavor w/half packet. Boog=beef flavor w/2 packets.

I get to the point where I crave it. Mama Boog says "you kids sure do eat a lot of that stuff!!!" I'd rather eat ramen than govt cheese and powdered milk. I don't like the other brands of those noodles either. has to be ramen.

Uh-oh. If the neuroresearchers are turning to ramen, we're in trouble!

My husband does the egg/ramen thing, he learned it in Korea too.

In college, if I was wealthy that day I'd have ramen and an avocado LOL.

How to make a spread:
1) Get some top ramen, chinese sausages, hot sauce, fish stakes and any other good commissary food.
2) Get a plastic trash bag and hot water.
3) Put all the ingredients in the plastic trash bag, and mix away.
4) Open the damn bag and you got yourself a great spread penitentiary style.

over here where im at,we all look alike..:zombie:
