Didn't want to hijack the 'pizza' thread, but here's a great - easy - idea for a 'dessert' pizza -
Take a 'roll' of sugar cookie dough, and spread it out on a round pizza sheet. Bake as directed on the package, and let cool.
Soften about 1 1/2 8 oz pkgs of cream cheese, add a little sugar, orange juice and some zest from the orange (or use Grand Marnier!), and spread it over the cooled 'crust'.
Then take sliced fruit of your choosing, and arrange it on top - if you're using bananas, dip 'em in lemon juice first, to retard the browning. If you like, you can 'glaze' the fruit by brushing some melted strawberry or apricot jam over the fruit.
Slice in wedges just like a pizza!

Marm! Thank you so much for posting this. You're a mind reader. I almost posted it in the favorite pizza topic (and it would have been ok for you to do that http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif) but I didn't have the recipe handy.
Kiwis, strawberries, blueberries, mandarin orange slices ... so colorful and delicious.
Folks, you've got to try this sometime. It's incredible. Yum, yum!

My mom has made this a few times and while it is incredibly good, i'd guess it's just as fattening as regular pizza.

Awwhh, Nate, ya just have to have some calories sometimes! http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif
You actually could lower the calories by using a 'scratch' cookie recipe that's lower in fat/calories, and use low fat cream cheese.

Being from Chicago, the undispiuted pizza capital of the universe, I've gotta say that anything with the title pizza doesn't have fruit in the recipe. The recipe sounds great and when I try it I may take some liberties and call it something other than pizza ;-).

Steve, Feel free to call it whatever you like - I didn't invent it, I'm just the messenger!
I suppose you're not crazy about all the 'California' type pizzas, either, with ham and pineapple and chicken BBQ - all those Wolfgang Puck sorts of things?
And I also dare say that our cousins in Italy would raise an eyebrow or two at the 'Chicago Deep Dish'! http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif

Marmalady,
I'm going to get hate mail for this, but Californians change everything and rairly for the better, this includes pizza http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif.
Steve,
I'll give Chicago this, they know a thing or two about food, but they have no clue what brisket is. My point, every region has it's own opinion on what food is and is not.

Yes you are right...Ham and pineapple on pizza is like:
- Chocolate sauce and cherries on brisket (booster - I agree with your brisket comment)
- Mayo and relish on lobster
- Bacon bits and brocoli in chili
Believe me, I love to cook, love to change recipes and will try anything (I'll even admit that I like some of WP's pizzas) but pizza is sacred and certain things should never go on it.

I made the fruit pizza yesterday-yum. The whipped cream cheese worked great and easier to handle. Didn't have orange juice, so I used a little hazelnut syrup and lemon zest. I used kiwi, strawberries and cherries. We had extra cherries so we had a cherry pit spitting contest on the driveway-Jim, Alan and I-and I won!!!!!!!! It was fun, and nutricious too.

Deb, glad you enjoyed it - LOL at the pic of you guys sitting and spitting the pits in the driveway! What did you used to use in place of the cream cheese?
