What a great weekend it has been for me! Today for lunch I met Jesse's mother (beelady) and father for lunch at Bennigan's in north Houston. I didn't have anything special to eat, just a grilled chicken caesar salad, but they introduced me to the O'Toole(?) sandwich, turkey on an interesting looking roll. Think I'll try that next time.

Now, you know how it is when you meet someone face to face when you've only communicated via posts on a forum? And you secretly wonder if you're even going to find something to talk about to fill the time while you're eating? Of course, that's seldom a problem for ME http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif, but it happens.

Well, 3 hours later, we finally HAD to go. When I got there, late as usual, I took one look at beelady and couldn't help but throw my arms around her. I was so happy to see her! And Jesse's father, what a wonderful man.

Jesse, you are very blessed my dear. Very blessed indeed.

I think that when the online community continues to look for every opportunity to make these relationships personal and real the strength and bonding that happens as a result creates a stronger force to push us all in the right direction.

Martha, good for you, you very well could have gone on your trip and ignored this whole thing. Not to be....I am glad you all made the effort. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

Jo?? NYC in June?

Mary

If I can see it, then I can do it. If I believe it, there's nothing to it.

I felt the same way, martha. I hate to admit it but I was thinking about not coming, making up excuses, cuz I am a big chicken when it comes to meeting new people. But, when I saw you run up to the door of Bennigans, and I told Randy "there she is" , he said, how do you know. I just knew and had the same feeling. Wanted just to stand up, greet you and give a hug/get a hug. Doesnt happen too often in my life that I offer the hug. I think since we have the sci thing in common, there is something within us that wants to make a bond. You made it very easy and very comfortable to meet someone new. NOW, NYC...I would probably have to guess no since it is a bad time of the year for beekeepers to be running away. Randy said I should go alone, but I know in the end I will probably be sitting in the Woodtick Inn that weekend, drinking my beer with olives and wishing I wasnt chicken to fly.. Anyway, since this is food forum...I had eggs and toast for breakfast, yummy, it was good.
