We had one a few weeks ago and everyone loved it. We served scones, finger sandwiches, cakes, etc. It was a great excuse to gather female family and friends for an ultra feminine afternoon. Here are pics from our party: http://www.beautyability.com/teaparty.htm

Reminds me, about 10 years ago, before I was a mom, etc., some friends of mine had an "Anne of Green Gables" tea party. Some took it to serious levels, like wearing "puffed sleeves" (significant in the book) and serving only items mentioned in the books. I wasn't too thrilled about going, but once I got there, I had a great time.

Anne of Green Gables tea party? How cool is that! I've heard of Alice in Wonderland tea parties but never an Anne one. Oh and I really loved those books/mini-series.....I should do one like that for our summer tea coming up!

Just be sure you have clotted cream (or Devonshire cream) and strawberry preserves to serve with your scones, and a good quality tea like Darjeling. Some cruise ships do this up right (Crystal Cruises does it the best!). Yum!

Oh yes, we had them both. Finding the clotted cream was a chore though! I ended up having to buy some at an online British foods emporium http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif lol But OMG...hot scones topped with strawberry preserves and clotted cream is heavenly *wafts off into a food induced haze*
