Wow, metro, thanks! I have a brother who loves to cook with his pressure cooker. He swears by it. I've been wanting to get one. This sounds like a great deal. Thanks again.

Pressure cookers are amazing. They can cook meat, making it more tender while retaining the flavor, than any other method that I know. For many years, it was my favorite way to make stews of all sorts. Wise.

I know the newer pressure cookers have more safety features, but all I remember is being a little girl at grandma's house, and the pressure cooker exploding all over the kitchen walls and ceilings!

I would love to have a pressure cooker but the lid looks like it would be difficult to remove for a quad. If anyone comes across an easy off pressure cooker lid, post it here!

Thanks.

cass, u (and your son) will love it! http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif it was my favorite gift at xmas...i grew up with them, but my husband wouldn't use one for years...he called them "grenades"...it was a true gift (not to mention a leap of faith on his part) on many levels...

i love my pressure cooker...and i don't do any of the cooking! http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif

yum , yum, i got mine yesterday and cooked a ad hoc stewy thing tonight, it really was good,
i just threw a big portablellow mushroom, a bunch of baby carrots, brocclii, red pepper, bouilon water, and a pork loin cut up in to inch pieces, did it for 7 minutes of pressure , resally came out good!

i am strictly a one pot cooker so this is really great ! since i tend to not cook vegetables that would be another pot to wash!

I gave in and bought a pressure cooker. The thought of making a one pot meal in under five minutes from start to finish was too enticing to resist. Although all three meals I prepared were disasters, I was pleasantly suprised to find out that handling it wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be.

Hi Metro, I can cook, really!

I have a Fangor pressure cooker and it requires at least a half cup of water. The last meal I tried was chili and it burned which was weird because the pot was half full with water. A yellow button is supposed to pop up to let me know when the pressure inside reaches a certain level so I can reduce the heat but the button never popped up. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif

seneca, well that will remind me to always check that button before placing the cover on,
i think i saw that in the instructions, mine has a red indicator too, but i guess it can get clogged or stuck,
so thanks for the warning! i will remeber to check it each time for free play!

i would like to thank metro for this excellent bravetti press cooker i now have. it has been a real time saver and the quality of the pots is excellent.

i made chicken, carrots and taties in it the other nite and tonight am just using the saute pan to cook leftover chicken w/rice, carrots, dill, etc.

thank you metro!

also have ordered two other things frm overstock. am very happy w/them.

btw, metro, i cannot see the red indicator due to my w/c, but if you do not hear steam releasing, you know you have a prob.

sen, half cup water doesn't sound right. think you need cup and a half.

cass , i am glad you are enjoying it as much as myself, http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif my vegetable intake has risen 5x to 6x from what it was and the variety has increased more than i could ever cook in a microwave. in one pot.... i actually have fun cooking now, and today i had 6 diffferent fresh vegetables inhtere..

the vegetables taste great, and i find i have cut my meat intake in half, to a much better level, due to the satiety effect of the added vegetables.
today i put in broccoli, carrots, yellow squash, eggplant, orange pepper and portabella mushrooms, and about 4 oz piece of pork, cut up, i could easily go to vegetable only cooking with this and still be full, add some bouillion for extra flavor..
yes the red dot indicator is hard to see even from above.. i find that when it starts hisses, i just give it a wack, by lifting a corner of the pan on the burner and dropping it a inch to seats the indicator, than i lower the flame,,. a mirror may work there also.
glad you enjoy it! i use mine every night ,
they do make other pressure cookers that have a mode visible external popup indicator that would be easier to see from a we.
i use the smaller pot . the sauté pot most of the time, i fill it full of vegetables and when i pour boiling water into it only takes a bout 4 minutes to reach pressure, ok for 1 person and easier to move as its lighter,
mike
