I have a 37y/o male friend that fell off a bike on Aug. 4th, 2002. He has a c-1 c-2 injury. He is currently on a vent. They say that he will be able to get off of it. He has been off at times for 6 hours. He really would like to talk with someone that has this same injury and has gotten off the vent. He can shrug his shoulders and wiggle his toes. You can feel in the palm of his hands, him tring to squeeze your hand. We are located in Northern CA. To get him into 3+hr a day physical therapy he must 1st get off the vent. Anybody out there that can help or refer me to somebody?

They claim to be good at vent weaning at TIRR in Houston. This is a really fresh injury, if he's gotten off for 6 hrs. it seems like he's doing well to me. I'm no expert, but had a c2 roommate. You might want to post this in the care section, might get better response. Wish him good luck for me-Betheny

Thank you. This is the 1st time I have ever been on line like this. How would I get it over to the care section?

xmartha, I am sorry that I did not see your posting here on the Feedback column until just now. I have copied it over to the Care Forum so that it can be seen by our SCINurses, if they have not yet. You can get to the copied topic through this link (http://carecure.org/forum/showthread.php?t=5701). Please post any further questions there. Thanks. Wise.
