Jeff: Chat problem

I'm getting this popup which says:
"An unknown error occurred while connecting to the DigiChat Server. Please contact the administrator in charge of the site.
java.lang.Exception: HttpServlet address not specified"

IE's Java Console shows:
java.lang.Exception HttpServlet address not specified

Could be because I'm at work and behind a firewall??

Most firewalls don't pose a problem for the applet. Only if they are configured to block applets. Applets are fairly mainstream so most firewalls allow them.

Had you gotten in to chat previously?

Many of us fixed a variety of problems by downloading the latest JVM from Sun. You can find it on their website.

Jeff, I find that I can log onto the chat server with Netscape 7.0 but not Internet Explorer 5.22 Funny, because I have been using this version of Internet Explorer to log on for weeks now. The error message says that java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.diginet.client.DigiChatApplet. I suspect that this is due to another change of the applet... The applet version is 4.0.3.1 (from the Settings). Wise.

I hope Jeff doesn't mind me answering this one, but it appears [via there ClassNotFoundException message] that one of the files didn't get downloaded when the Applet went through the initialization process, ie: Loading blah-blah.java. Try loading it again later on in IE.
