Maybe I have missed this forum somewhere, but what about a forum that deals with financial issues of sci and brain injury ppl including insurance, medicaid, workman's comp. etc. Maybe have a personal injury attorney to moderate the forum? I have noticed that there are many topics covered from health issues to fundraising and yet, I find that there are many financial problems that are so overwhelming when dealing with sci, brain injury or any health problem for that matter and yet there is little information. If I missed this forum somewhere, then please direct me. Thanks.
New Mobility has a legal forum that is very good:

I doubt we would get an attorney to moderate a forum for free or the small stipends possible. In addition, attorneys are often loath to put their thoughts in print in such a public forum.

I think a 'resource' forum or 'sticky' would be helpful; listings of Medicare/Medicaid links, insurance advocacy, etc. I don't think an attorney would necessarily be needed for a forum like this. Maybe a listing of disability/insurance attorneys, tho?

This could be added to the Links page that Jeff is working on. Not sure of the status on this.

Debras, I am waiting for more responses to gauge the desire for such a forum. I agree with you that it is a very important topic. So far, many of the queries concerning legal and other matters have been posted in the Life Forum. We will also need to identify people who are willing to be a moderator of such a forum and be willing to find and post the latest news and information on the subject. Wise.
is exactly what a good links page should have. It's a great reason to have our links system up and going. It would be useful in addition to a Legal Forum should we decide to implement one of those.
I have been meaning to get most of the links from the Links Forum into the new Links Pages before launch but so far have only gotten half of them in. Maybe if I launch the system it will help build momentum and people will begin posting more links.
In the meantime, feel free to post Legal Resource links here or in the Links Forum and I'll see that they get added to the new Links Page.

Not only should there be a forum for legal/financial questions, but a forum just for newly sci people and their families. It has been a nightmare for my friend's family figuring out what to do. Had the hospital he originally was sent to knew about this forum or knew what facility he should be sent to, the nightmare wouldn't be as bad. No one really told the family what to do when his injury first happened. There should be a manual explaining what to do and how to go about doing it. There should be a forum to help people find the financial aid they need so they can put their loved ones in a good sci rehab, not a nursing home. So frustrating........ http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
