View Full Version : Helloooo Seneca,
Dont you think you go too far with your MODERATION?!!!
This morning I posted two topics-one with direct question to Wise about melatonin & DHA for sci,
and another about aging hormon.
Dont you think we all age?
I understand your frustration with sci(been there myself), but could you somehow keep it out of moderating forums...
Btw I've posted on different sci related forums long, long time(proably more than 6 years) before you found them...Never met you before http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif
Just think how many times previously I declined moderator job proposed by Wise,Sam Sue & Bj..
because I thouht I would not be objective enough http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/confused.gif http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/confused.gif http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/confused.gif
I could show you lots of your own unrelated posts
but wont do this...

Max, none of your articles have been deleted. I moved your articles on melatonin and growth hormone to the Care Forum. I also moved a topic I posted on NIH funding from this forum to the Funding Forum as well as an article posted by Paulsask. No one's being singled out, all of the moderators are being more dilligent about moving/copying articles to forums that have been specifically set aside for certain topics.
No one is trying to undermine you or replace your position. You are spoken highly of and respected by everyone. I know you have been around for a while and everyone is appreciative and indebted to you for your loyalty to the community and the large amount of informative articles you post. In the future, however, I would hope we could resolve personal grievances issues privately via e-mail or through the Feedback Forum as the Cure Forum is not appropiate for this.
Thank you.
However http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/cool.gif http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
In my opinion this directly related to cure more than to funding..
http://carecure.org/forum/showthread.php?t=11000
But you somehow arbituary decided to move it...
Thanks-but no thanks http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif
Why if you so confident, you do not post your "Seneca Rules" for this CURE Forum? http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/confused.gif http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/confused.gif http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/confused.gif http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/confused.gif

OK folks, we are trying to just keep the forums tidy. We are getting a ton of hits every single day and many (YEA!!) are your doctors visiting. So if you want to post articles please tthink about where best to post it. Like news updates on the Proneuron trial would be a Cure Forum topic. New methods to deal with chronic pain, the Pain Forum. Having a bad day, monthm year, decade? Tell us all about it on Life. I also tell my doc when I am having a bad time. I mean he gets paid to listen to me. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
If you want to reply to anything in a forum please do so but try to keep it within the general discussion on that thread or start a new one.
And while I have yet to delete a post I have had the cyber gremblins eat a few. Ticks me off too but that why we have computers.........to make life so much more interesting.
And last, because I am kind of swamped both physically (bum leg, sore butt, toomany pills, etc)and for time, Seneca has agreed to help moderate the Cure Forum. And yes, Max has been asked to help many times but I know he has a full time job and doesn't normally have the time but does post what he finds for SCI related issues. He has been so nice that he lets me move articles (not replies) if they don't fit this forum. Thanks again, Max. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/cool.gif
So now, cool your jets everyone and let's get back to the business at hand until the Olympics start at least...

Why not post all news articles on a separate "NEWS" forum?, Since many articles are read, but not necessarily responded to, this might help to un-clutter the forums. The "NEWS" forum should be a listing forum rather than a discussion forum. This would allow us to view all of the news in one place. Then, if somebody wanted to discuss a particular article, they could simply copy it to the appropriate forum.
Thanks to all who search for, and post the news.

Sometimes the discussion reminds me of kilkenny cats.

Subject: A.Word.A.Day--kilkenny cats
kilkenny cats (kil-KEN-ee kats) noun
People who fight relentlessly till their end.
[From a pair of proverbial cats in Kilkenny who fought till only their tails were left.]
According to a story, some people in the town of Kilkenny in Ireland enjoyed tying the tails of two cats and watching them fight till only their tales were left behind. Most likely the story is a parable of a contest between Kilkenny and Irishtown, two municipalities which fought about their boundaries till little more than their tails were left. Here is a popular limerick (another word that takes its origins from the name of an Irish town) about the cats:
"There wanst was two cats of Kilkenny
Each cat thought there was one cat too many
So they fought and they fit
And they scratched and they bit
'Til instead of two cats there weren't any."
"When Lord Cranborne placed Hatfield House at the disposal of Unionists
to talk things through in November 1997, the result was a meeting after
the style of the fighting Kilkenny cats."
A Man of Parts, The Economist (London), Apr 15, 2000.
This week's theme: toponyms or words derived from place names.

Rick, the complaints about duplicates was launched by one person. Since none of the members or other moderators have complained, I think it's ok for duplicate articles to be posted as long as it doesn't split a discussion. If the discussion is split then both posts and hence both discussions should be blended.

My suggestion wasn't based on duplicates, complaints, or cats. I just thought it was a good idea. Please judge it on it's merits. Thank you.

I think the "Newsroom Forum" is a good idea. Many articles get few comments but are infact read. It would speed up reading time as I would know if I was hitting an article or a post.
There is an excellent selection of articles, top quality! Putting them in a newspaper type column makes sense. Something to think about. BTW, I mentioned duplication, not Rick. I think he was just making a thought out suggestions unlike previous digs.

Cheesecake, just for clarification, are you suggesting that all news articles be posted in two separate forums, one just for reading and the other for reading and replies/posts/polls etc? What do you think Dr. Young, Sue?

Sorry, rick, max, seneca, foster, cheesecake, and others... I apologize and I did not mean to imply that any of you are kilkenny cats.
Rick, your suggestion is an excellent one and probably would have worked when the site was smaller. News articles, however, generate commentary and having the news in another forum would split the discussion between forums.
I would like to take this opportunity to review the forums and the rationale for the the different forums. When the site was smaller, it was possible to have almost all the postings fit into three forums: care, cure, life. Most subjects fit into these categories and people could read the postings in one visit.
As this site grows, this is becoming more difficult. The number of postings is getting to be too much for a person to read within a 10 minute. For the past week, we have averaged 180 postings a day. We need to begin segregating and organizing the postings.
Over a third of postings are ending up in the "cure" forum, as many as 50 postings and 10 new topics per day. Care and Life are getting about half the number of postings. The rest are scattered amongst the rest of the forums. It would be good if we can start discussing the forums and our goals are.
Wise.

After reading Dr Young's reply, No, I don't think that would be a good idea. Somedays I am frustrated trying to dig through all the articles as I find them of great value but have to search. The option of articles only would have been great when the sight was small, like a newspaper. Then if someone had wanted to cmment or inquire about an article, they could post a topic. That would be too cumbersome at this point
I think I would like to see a news icon so that I can get to the articles faster and/or download them to read off line.
Dr Young, didn't think you were implying that we were kilkenney cats...should I have?
I read the forums to learn and get others views. Personally, I would love to see more sharing of info to help others. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif

I think keeping the forums separated is a good idea. The Care, Life and S&R forums have picked up lately and are doing fine even if they are visited less often.
