Message to people who registered with invalid email address:

The site requires a valid email address for registration. When people register, the web site will send an message to the email address. That message will contain a link that you need to go to. As soon as you do so, the registration is validated. However, some people (either inadvertently or deliberately) put an invalid email address. When this happens, the web site sends an email to me to indicate that the email did not get through. When this happens, I usually go ahead and manually validate the registration anyway even though the email address is invalid.

About 2 weeks ago, I went ahead and manually validated the registrations of people. I am continuing to to do this but decided to list those people from now on. The following is a list of the date and user names that I have validated manually in the last two weeks. Some were because of invalid email addresses. Others may simply have not realized that they need to collect their email to complete their registrations. Those with invalid email addresses may want to go back to their membership profiles and correct them.

All the people listed below should have valid registrations now. Please post here if you have trouble posting.

* Note: "user unknown" means that your mailserver returned a message back from your email address, saying that they do not recognize the user. "Service unavailable" also indicates that the server cannot recognize the name of the user.

I am continuing to validate the registrations of people who are registering with invalid email addresses, including user unknown and host unknown designations. As explained above, registration requires valid email addresses. By the way, it registration provides an option of providing the email address so that it does not appear in the public profile.

Whenever the web site gets a registration, it sends an email to the registrant containing a web address that the user needs to go to, to tell the web site that the email has been received. Upon going to that web site address, the site will validate the registration.

A significant number of people, as you can see from this list, give email addresses that the web site cannot get messages to. These include email addresses that are invalid host names, email addresses where the host indicated that the user is not known. In some cases, the email address was delivered, but people did not validate the email address by going to the web site specified.

I am continue to manually validate registrations of people in all three categories but putting the names of users here, as well as the apparent reason for failure of registration.

How about deleting people? Should we send the request to an administrator or post it here? Like now that my computer problems are over, I'd like to delete the "DTX" alias I was using. Same email address though so don't drop that please. :-)

I am going to list the individual registrations that I have gone ahead to validate even though the email addresses are invalid.

sbullet registered but the email address was returned indicating: "Returned mail: User unknown". I have gone ahead to validate the registration. Wise.
