hi.

i am looking for someone good to buy wheelchairs from. i live in the bay area but travel frequently to washington, dc. i have some specialized equipment needs and am reasonable but don't tolerate fools or used car salespeople well. i've had bad luck finding smart people to sell me chairs. any suggestions, anyone?

I live in the D.C. area, if you want me to look into it here I would be happy to. Just drop me a note and tell me what you want/need. I can ask around at the hospital and see what I can find out for you.

Good luck.

thanks for the advice.

i need something a little more custom than what i can get from a catalog or online.

my current chair, which works 90% well for me, has parts from quickie, kushall, jay, otto bach, silhouette, and a custom piece. stuff like that is too hard, i think, for me to figure out on my own. i have enough ideosyncratic issues with balance and posture, plus unusual transfers and pushing method, that i need someone who knows what's out there in terms of equipment and who can match equipment with my needs. also, they should have reasonable common sense, be generally competent, and be able to understand that i know my needs + body better than they do.

i swear that i am a reasonable, fair, and cooperative customer, but i keep having terrible experiences with vendors and either firing them or getting "fired".

thanks for the help--i need it
