my son moved his left foot and toes on command today. i was so happy that i was almost in tears , i pray for continued improvement...as his daily conversation always include the comment..."when i get up on that walker"
I can understand what you feel. If my son who is 5 and 1/2 weeks post would do that i would be estatic too!!!

great! Wise.
Hey, good news. My foot first moved three weeks after I got home from RIC. I was almost three months post. I stood up for the first time when I was about five months post. I'm not telling you to expect this, but I thought that you might like to hear my experiences.
Where is he going to therapy?

my son attends day rehab at RIC-Homewood three times a week, they provide transportation. he was released from RIC downtown 5/29 and received home therapy from Methodist hospitals until his halo was removed late june...started day rehab 1st of july04. both arms have gotten a lot stronger...the doctor at RIC could not believe it. going downtown is always a downer for for son, he get's very depressed going there along w/me and my husband. my son was injured 3/10/04 was hospitalized @ olympia fields and went to RIC the end of march..... that hospital gave us no hope and no encouragement and continued to state what he would never do...he proved them wrong . he has been given conflicting reports regarding recovery/injury etc. He was told the bullet went around the spine and bone fragments did go into the canel which caused the damage. initally diagnosed c5/c6. i don't know what to believe
I was told by a man that has been a quad for 30 years that it doesn't matter what the so called "educated" doctors say might or won't happen. It doesn't matter what you could or couldn't get back. It doesn't matter what you had yesterday or what you will have tomorrow. All that matters is what you have today and how you use it.
At the time I thought that he was full of it, but the more time that passes I think I am starting to understand. He also added "use it or loose it" I guess experience gives this sci thing some dimension. good luck and keep in touch.
