Can anyone tell me where and when the open house meeting is this Friday at Rutgers and how the meeting usually goes?

This will be my first time attending. My brother is C5/C6 four months post and we all have so many questions it is almost impossible to know which to ask first - of his doctor's, therapists - so I thought I would try the open house for information.

I have been reading this site for about 2 months and have gotten quite a bit of wonderful information and suggestions, thank you all for expressing your feelings, suggestions, opinions and thoughts on this overwhelming experience.

This is my first post here and wish I could sound more orgainzed - next time.

book-sis - Tours of the center and mingling come first. Then a video. Then a talk from Dr. Young on the progress of cure technology. Then questions and answers. And of course snacks.

It is a nice time for the community to come together. I look forward to meeting you. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

Have fun at the open house.

Btw, Jeff, look for / meet a guy by the name of Joe Sendon. He's a friend.

Thanks.

Book sis, the Open House meeting will be held tomorrow at the W. M. Keck Center for Collaborative Neuroscience at Rutgers. It is situated in Nelson Biological Laboratories in the D-wing 2nd floor, on the Busch campus (Piscataway, New Jersey). I understand that over 70 people have already signed up to come to the meeting. If you have trouble getting here, call the Center phone number 732-445-2061 for directions.

Wise.

Thank you all so much for responding, especially you Dr. Young for taking the time to fill me in on the meeting. But because I waited so long to ask the details, I will not be able to attend this month, I did not know it would begin at 5 pm, too early to get someone to watch our kids, etc. Can someone please fill me in on what went on during what I am sure is going to be an exciting meeting?

Thanks.

book-sis - The meeting proper doesn't start until later. I think tours are available at 5:00 and people start showing up anytime after that. I think Dr. Young often starts speaking between 6:00 and 6:30.

Very good thought to rename this forum.

Lindox, I chose to rename the forum after some thought and earlier discussion with the moderators. Acute refers to a short period after injury while many people who have been posting here have been well beyond the "acute" injury phase. So, I thought that "new" would be better. Wise.
