Has anyone been to and had good luck at Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. I have an appointment in September to evaluate pain and try to improve my walking. Is this on of the best? Or does anyone have any sugestions. I did my original rehab at Kessler in NJ>

I am not as familiar with RIC's pain program as I am their other rehabilitation programs, but they are a SCI Model System of Care, and have an excellent reputation overall.

my boyfriend, c4, stayed there for several months after his accident 5 years ago. always speaks highly of it, and it is rated the best rehab hospital in the country. I have been there and have gotten a good feeling from the place. physically, it is a nice hospital and i liked the people that i met.
last time he went, he talked to the doctor about his pain and the guy basically told him to live with it--not an attitude that i find acceptable.
let us know how it goes.
the university of chicago also has a pain center that i would like to visit--it is at weiss memorial hospital on the north side of chicago (maybe you could check that out too?).
I was there for 2 months last year, seemed like a nice place given the circumstances. I know that they know alot more about SCI than your average 'top rated' acute care hospital for sure. I dont have any experiences with other rehabs but they did ok by me on some things that were important to me. As far as a pain program, I have no idea what they have. My only experience with neuropathic pain issues with my Dr. was me deciding to deal with it as I dont want to be hammering all sorts of pills. My docs from there were pretty good about Rx'ing Vicodan for the pain that was 'real' above my injury site when I needed it.
