Without CanDo, where do others get their various bits of equipment from these days?

I'm trying to locate a 'Quad Belt' or 'Abdominal Binder' since I think it might help with a small hernia I've aquired after keyhole op for gall bladder. It's directly over the scar and is causing pain (assumed pain - no sensation) but since I'm sweating immediately after getting into my chair, I believe this is the cause. A Belt might help till I can eventually get decent medical/surgical help - it's pretty slow here in the UK!

I've never used one before, are they likely to mark or damage the skin when sitting? Any advice about them and a Web Site to search for one would be appreciated. Thanks.

Geoand: Abdominal binders are used regularly by people with a SCI, and generally pose no problem to the skin as long as you make sure all wrinkles are pulled out of it after putting it on.

As far as where it can be purchased over the net - I just took a quick look on the net by doing a search under Medical Supplies and came up with a long list of businesses advertising there. One, picked at random, is www.oucmedical.com. (http://www.oucmedical.com.) I know nothing about this business, and would highly recommend you do your own search, looking at other suppliers and comparing prices. Most sell the same products (there are not many manufacturers of binders). The criteria I would use when selecting are price and service. Let us know if you don't have any luck, or need further help. Thanks,

I've done a search and found a helpful site at:-

http://www.tetramed.com/index.htm

who're sending me one in the post. Being outside the USA, it's quite difficult trying to find firms willing to trade as far as the UK.

Still, I'll keep my fingers crossed that I've ordered the correct item in the size & shape that would most suit my body shape.
