Hey there....
I posted this question in the life section when I realized it should have been posted here.
I'm a wheelchair racer that wants to bulk up a LOT. I'm a C6 incomplete and lift 3 (mostly 5-6) days a week. I wanted to know the ill-effects supplements such as Androsine, Creatine, Whey, Weight Gainers and Glutamine (as well as steriods.... its JUST for knowledge... i dont want to take them)... for example: do i have to worry that the stuff will deposite in my legs? eat away at my leg muscle/bone? etc...
Long story short: How can i bulk up on top of the regular eating/sleeping/lifting thing?
Thanks...

bear1019, I think that there is some evidence that creatine will help you gain more strength and bulk if it is associated with vigorous lifting. You have to pay attention to your fluid intake and make sure that you don't overdo it.

Androgens (steroids) of course also do increase muscle building but have the serious drawback of having bad effects on your heart and other tissues. Although I have spent the greater part of my career studying one kind of steroids (glucocorticoids), I know very little about the effects of the synthetic muscle-building steroids other than seeing cardiac complications in athletes that use them.

I don't know anything about Androsine.

Glutamine is a byproduct of glutamate metabolism and plays a role in GABA metabolism, all neurotransmitters in the spinal cord. it is an essential amino acid but I can't imagine that it does all that much in terms of increasing muscle bulk or strength.

I would urge great caution in the use steroids because of the effects that it may have on your heart, lung, and internal organs.

Wise.

Forget the steroids, government funded studies have shown that they will not only damage your liver but also make your genitals smaller. I'm not kidding-ask around.

Smokey, you probably couldn't see that your genitals were smaller since steroids also cause cataracts. My husband had double cataracts when he was 39 because of steroids he had used in high school and college (or so said the ophthalmologist).
