View Full Version : How much do you pay for high speed internet?
I am very curious as to how much high speed internet costs in different regions.
In Toronto, we have a choice of DSL or Cable Modem. I pay roughly $44 Canadian per month for high speed Cable Modem access.
How about you?

I pay $49/mo. for DSL. No cable TV in my rural area which is fine because satellite is far superior over cable. How we got DSL out here is another story. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/cool.gif

I'm at the same level as gvinton... $59.99 total.
I just signed up for DSL the other day at 29.99 per month for the first year, after that it goes up to 39.99
I'm in Northern CA.
DSL for $29.99 a month with the 'employee concession' (same as the intro rate, but unlimited time at that price)

I live in southern California and I pay $40 a month for cable Internet. If I did not have cable TV, the price would be $50 a month. SBC telephone is offering DSL for $30 a month for one year.

29.99 for DSL, we had cable but it only worked about 1/2 the time. Very annoying.

$39.99 for Comcast (with cable TV.) No cable modem rental - I got one (always plenty of them on ebay, if anyone is in the market.)

If it's considered interesting to have a view on European fares, in Italy I spend: 52 Euro (~$50) for ADSL.
BTW A = Asymmetric it means it's less fast in upload (128 Kbsp) than in download (640 Kbps).
Anyone here in Asia using high speed?
I think I remember reading somewhere about how South Korea and Japan broadband is roughly 10x faster than standard DSL or Cable Modem. True? How much?

I do believe so, mk. When I'm browsing some Japanese news sites, I see lots of ads for ADSL and even VDSL.

For cable access from Comcast, including modem rental: $45.95. Just got it about a month ago on a promo for $29.99 for the first six months.
About the same cost I was paying for a scond phone line and the ISP service. Best I could get on dialup was 31.6k, so we're in internet hog heaven here!
Took 'em forever to get my neighborhood wired for cable modem access, then they had to dig up my neighbor's yard to replace a bad cable. Can't get DSL here .. too far from the central office I guess.

Cable high speed for 39.95 per month here. I bought the modem about 4 years ago, I believe modem rental is 5 dollars more if you dont have one.
