I'm a C6 13 yrs. post and I want to get a standing chair but I'm concerned about the process of getting to the standing position. What precautions should I take to stand up without hurting my body (broken bones, etc.). Thanks in advance.

I am a c2c3 quadriplegic of nine years. Two weeks ago, a demonstrator from easystand came out and demonstrated their junior 5000 model to me. I had concerns with broken bones because I had not had a density test prior to them standing me. They assured me that the frame provided enough support on the hips, abdomen, and knees that I would be fine. Sure enough I was. They raised me up slowly to prevent muscle spasms, to make sure I wasn't getting light headed, and to make sure I was doing OK. It was a great feeling to be "tall" again. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

It has been a long time since I've tried it, but my biggest problem was blood pressure. Take it slowly.
