I heard (now this is just a rumor) that he's taking some experimental drug to help him recover. I should get Nancy Drew on him....hehehe.

Well, first I read this:

--November 26, 2001: In the November 26, 2001 issue of People Weekly, Christopher Reeve confirmed that for three decades he has suffered from Alopecia Areata, "an incurable disease affecting 4 million people that results in varying degrees of hair loss." Reeve said in the interview: "I first had it when I was 16. All my life it's come and gone. It started with a bald spot right at the crown of my head. In all that time some hair (on my head) would fall out and then grow back. But in the last year it has been more apparent than usual. (For the first time) it's affected my eyebrows, but they are growing back. There's no real explanation for it. It's kind of like allergies. Sometimes people have a good season and a bad season. So in the last six months in particular I've lost more hair than usual. The fact is I'm in the best health I've been in since the accident in '95. I'm stronger and I'm progessing with physical therapy. That's why it's so ironic that because my hair fell out, people have been concerned about my health." Reeve receives cortisone shots in the scalp every three weeks to treat his hair loss. It was also mentioned in the article that the gala to benefit Reeve's Foundation on November 13 raised more than $3 million.

But then I saw the film his son did, the "day in the life of" film that was recently on tv. I was sure they mentioned his hair loss, but it doesn't seem as though they attributed it to alopecia. I can't remember what, exactly, was said about it. Hmmm....a mystery?

50 is really old Andy?

If you've ever been on camera makeup is part of the drill.

I think CR looks good bald or not.

He said publically on CNN that he decided to shave his head due to the alopecia(sp).
He talks openly about the alopecia in his most recent book, Nothing is Impossible.
I saw him in D.C. for the announcement of the CRPA and he looked great, the best I have seen in years.

Yeah, like farting dust and being around when dinosaurs roamed the earth.http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif I know about makeup, but there is good camera makeup and bad makeup too, sometimes I think he looks kind of embalmed. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Might be nothing to do with it, but if testosterone levels alter along with some stuff, that might also cause changes in basic settings.

I don't know why so many people are saying "Oh he looks so good." Lately he has looked like death warmed over. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif

I'm 51 and I tell my grandkids I'm "older than dirt". http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif My wife has noted that since my accident (April 95) I have gone gray and my hair has started receding. I think it comes with the territory when you have a SCI so late in life.

On the up side, I saw CR on the CBS special June 3rd and he was looking pretty good. His speech was not nearly as hesitant and I think that electronic diaphram device was responsible. I just wish more of you guys who are vent-dependent could afford it.

At 43, I'm starting to grow a few gray hairs - my aide has fun aggravating me by pretending to count them. Heck, I'm older than my father was when he died, so gray hair isn't surprising (he had very little gray when he died.) One of these years, rather than a full, thick head of brown hair, I'll have a full, thick head of white hair, and I'll still look younger than I really am. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

LindsayS: ;-) I found that comment quite funny.
(Death warmed over.)

Seemed to me, that OP alike sucked lifepower.
And that he is too little in natural nature.

Acid, it's a phrase used in this section of the country a lot. Another one is "He looks like the last rose of summer." My mother says that one a lot http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

Alopecia has nothing to do with age, gender, or SCI. Give the poor guy a break! hasn't he lost enough without us making fun of his hair?

I think he's just going for the Bruce Willis look!

I do agree with KDK - enough already.
