This is a common problem in women with SCI. If manual or oral stimulation does not help with reflex lubrication, then you may need to use an artificial lubricant. I recommend Astroglide instead of KY/Surgilube, etc. Don't ever use any petroleum based product.
Viagra has also been reported to help some women with SCI with this, although the studies are pretty scanty. (KLD)

Wish I could help,,,,,,, wait,,,, I'd like to help,,,, no that doesn't sound right either....
Advise, that is what I am trying to get around to, and unfortunately I don't have any.
KY is the best lubricant this side of anything natural and it is not petroleum based, you don't want anything petroleum based because it repels moisture and that is the last thing you want.
I have other thoughts on the subject but if I expressed them I might get labeled a perv.

Hi Cilly,
Dont know that I can be of any help to you except to let you know you aren't alone.
I have had to use lub since my SCI 10 years ago.
Judt a hint We keep some in a few different places in the house so that if we get "the urge" someone doesnt have to go looking for the stuff. http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif Good Luck

I will have to go with those old song lyrics
"Ya gotta lick it before we kick it"
because the mouth is a naturally "wet" spot you may need to combine it with your "dry" location before you start http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif 2 + 2 = nice and wet

Cilly - for additional information you may want to go the professional site www.sexualhealth.com (http://www.sexualhealth.com) This site covers many specific areas including a section on disability and, more specifically, SCI. Amongst the list of experts who volunteer on the site are two women who are doing research in women's health; Margaret Nosek, PhD of the Center for Research on Women with Disabilities and Dr. Beverly Whipple, RN, PhD. Women's health and more specifically, sexuality and SCI has only been studied in the recent years. Therefore, the amount of known knowledge and information available is certainly limited. CRF
