Acute injuries, life changes?

Something I am quite curious about....is there a resource which people with spinal cord injuries can draw on to help them with the organize their bills, look to for real friendship, and wade through the chaos which seems to result? Not to mention the brainwashing that takes place during inpatient care, and rehab.

I sent a year of my life dealing with billing companies screwing up and billing the wrong insurance company. I even got a bill for an ambulance ride 1 1/2 years after it happened!.! I'm sorry, but it's my my fault if they fail to bill.

I couldn't imagine having to deal with these things without family to help me. It would have been impossible.

A year later and going through the same thing, getting billed for things that have been already paid, or bills being submitted from almost a year ago.

Then there's the $1,200.00 hoyer lift that I used about a half dozen times that was replaced with a $30.00 board for transfers. Not to mention all the measuring and fitting to order a wheelchair, than final fitting, running back and forth to the "seating clinic" only to have it not fit anyway. The list of botched ordering for various goods is endless. The best thing a newly injured individual can do is obtain information from this board and others like it.
