i am so sorry. i made another post within this thread and messed up so i hit delete on just that message, but it deleted the whole thread since i originally started it. i'm sorry guys, i didn't realize that would happen. i backed up and copied everything though so i'll paste it here.

well, i hate editing my posts but i decided i wanted this posted at the top of the thread again.

this is what i was trying to post when i screwed up.

a friend that gary lived with called me that sunday and told me that he had passed away and i didn't want to upset them by asking a lot of questions. i was lucky that they even called to let me know so i could let everyone here know also. i was the only one from spinewire that they knew he was good friends with and whose number they could find. melissa

Mellissa, I just thought it was odd that several people had asked how he died, but nothing was answered. I understand your concern for his friend's feelings, but if a friend of mine died, the first thing I'd say is "How?" I don't think Gary's friend would have been offended.

well scorpion, you're right. i was curious. sometimes i am just overly sensitive where other people are concerned. frankly though, i just don't see why it is anyone's business here anyway. not everyone would want the details of their passing to be analyzed on a public forum. i don't mean to sound rude, but i just don't think everyone needs their private life discussed here, unless they choose to do it themselves of course. melissa

hi cass, i'm not sure, but woodward actually does ring a bell. i have relatives that live in des moines which might be why it sounds familiar. i'm about 2 or 2 ½ hours north of des moines up in kossuth county. melissa

I didn't know Gary other than from his posts here. What stands out for me, other than his humor, was a post made by someone by the screen name shipin3 (spelling?).

Shipin3 placed a post on cando I think but it could have been here, that sounded like he was ending his life. Gary tried to give encouragement as we all did, but was one, if not the last one, of us to post in the life of this thread. As far as I know, shipen3 was never heard of again.

Gary truly had an interest in other's welfare.

geez, i was just in kossuth co., in algona for the big 150th anniv. celebration. governor was there and so was hungarian ambassador. they dedicated a statue outside courthouse to kossuth, the hungarian freedom fighter. i also spent some time at okoboji.
