I was interested in the following statement in a 1998 New Mobility article regarding Lubin's listgroups, including Quad List and Mobility List. Is it true that political discussion is not allowed on the Quad List? Wise.

The Personal Is Not Political
There are rules on Lubin's listgroups, and on the Quad list there's one that may raise the ire of activists: No politics. "On the Mobility list," he says, "I got tired of all the political talk. That's one reason I started my own Quad list, so that people can talk about quad issues other than politics. Every time politics came up, I said, 'No, I don't want that on this list. It's for talking about bladder problems, attendant care and that sort of thing.'"
Ironically, Lubin insists that people should be politically active. "I do follow politics. I do vote. I just don't understand these people who complain about things and then they don't vote. I feel that people that don't vote don't even have a right to an opinion."
So, why so strict about mixing personal hygiene with political debate? There's a place for everything, Lubin says, and there's already a place to go for politics. His place is about practical life.
