OK, so are ya'll fed up with how expensive good exercise and care equipment is? Do you want to be able to use the Ergys or Stimmaster, bars, weight equipment etc. but can't afford the cost? Will your insurance not pay for it?
If you are in the Austin area and are serious about staying in shape as a Quadra/Para plegic, I am looking into starting a "Rehab Coop" for a small group of individuals. My brother is a recent complete C5 injury and I refuse to be deterred by the high cost of this equipment. Everyone that wants to use good training equipment should be able to.
My idea:
* 4-5 people invest an equal amount of money into the COOP (all with legally drawn up rights, rules and regulations)
* these people all invest an equal amount of money into the equipment and rental space and have it for their use an equal amount of time
* it would be centrally located
* other people who are interested can pay a small hourly fee to use the equipment when primary members are not using the space
Any thoughts? Input? Interest?
Come on folks, let's do this the Austin way!

Lots is going to be going on in Austin soon... including a new rehab center which will break ground this fall. Go to the Cure forum & find Superstar (read the recent posts in this thread (http://carecure.org/forum/showthread.php?t=19662) especially). Details will follow sometime in the near future.

Glad the interest is brewing... that's what we need!! http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Man, I wish I lived in your area. 'cause I sure would jump right in with you. You think the comute from central Arkansas would be to much travel round trip for exercise? http://sci.rutgers.edu/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif I wish I could get something going like that around here.
