Welcome,
I'm Joanna, I'm from Poland, but this few months I live in Germany (I stay here till autumn). My hosts, Rita and Gerd treat me like a family-member, so I feel responsible for them too. Their friends became my friends, too.
And one of them fell last Sunday (a week ago) from horse, she is still in hospoital, we know that she is totally paralized (C2-3). She can not breath without help. As we know she will have to use machine for breathing for rest of her life. Still we don't know if she will be able to speak. I'm sure that you all know much more than me about consequations...
The problem now is how to help her and (even more important!) her husband. How to force them not to give up. How to make them believe, that Petra can still do many things, that life was not finished last Sunday. She has a lot of friends, and everybody says she is "strong", but nobady knows how she will react to this situation.
Unfortunately, she and her husband don't speak english, so they cannot contact directly with you. So we (all their friends) search for german-speaking people (the best would be people living here), who can advice something to the or just support them in times of trouble. BUT I DON'T SPEAK GERMAN YET; SO DON'T SEND POSTS IN GERMAN PLEASE!!!
So, if you know German Societies or people who are paralized - please, give me contact to them. I think that Petra's husband is not ready for talking to anybody yet, but when he will be able - we have to know somebody who will help him immediately!
I'm affraid that is the only way I can help them. But if I'm not right - tell me it, please!
Best regards from sad and rainy Germany,
Joanna
