I know of detrusor and sphincter relaxants etc.

I'm curious to find out if anyone knows if there are smaller than normal doses of detrusor relaxants prescribed for just a very slight relaxing of the bladder.

I'm asking because I feel that my bladder is a little tight and feels like it can occlude my drainage eyelets a little easier.

I had 12 years of severe straining, so I reckon it would put me in a rare category perhaps, although I could be wrong.

So my thought is that a fraction dose of relaxants might help me, without causing any noticeable side effects but just enough to relax the bladder a little.

I've not had urodynamic studies at all, but we know that I can store about 50ml urine if I'm lucky. With bladder scans done on me, whilst lying down, during the filling/storage phase, it showed I could fill to about 140ml unless I got up and moved, which would trigger the urge to urinate with extreme tensions and pressure on the sphincter. During emptying, even suprapubically, the bladder aches like mad.
Urodynamics might be on the menu when I see my urologist in 6 weeks or unless something happens to get me there sooner.

So, is there anyone on a non-normal/tiny dose or are they not made in fraction doses?

Do you have a spinal cord injury? If so, what level? Please complete your profile.
If your urinary tract difficulty is from some other cause than spinal cord injury, the advice you find here may not be pertinent to your problem. But, generally speaking, with a spinal cord injury, you take enough anticholinergic medication (up to 30mg) to deal with the bladder spasms you are experiencing. The amount of anticholinergics can be tailored by your urologist to suit your needs.

All the best,
