Hey all... have a syrinx from upper t7 through lower t9 level. The most pronounced dilation of the central canal is a 1.3 cm segment at the middle to inferior t8 level where it measures 1X2 mm in axial dimensions.

Anyways, been having quite a bit of numbness in my right leg and some numbness in my right arm as well, specifically from the forearm down. Is it safe to assume this is being caused by the syrinx?

In all likelihood, the syrinx is causing these symptoms. However, I would let your doc know the symptoms that you are having. Has there been any discussion of having surgery to deal with the syrinx?

Thanks for the response.... I have shared this with my doctor... there was no talk of surgery as of right now because there wasn't anything readily identifiable on MRI to "fix"/take care of.... they have not figured out the cause of the syrinx. No spinal cord injury, chiari, etc. but they are thinking it was caused by minor trauma. However, no adhesions were visible on MRI.

Some additional info... I was told my two prominent neurosurgeons that this is not a syrinx (who are very familiar with syrinx), but rather a remnant of normal development. When I explained the symptoms I was having, they were dismissed as not the cause. However, everything else is coming back negative in MRI's in all three areas.
