lol,
but seriously?
ladies?
I have skirts that I wore with leggings/boots etc this winter that I'd like to wear in spring, (since they are NOT too short, but barely at or above the knee) any suggestions as to how to do this without feeling like I'm advertizing? Maybe it just feels weird to not have your legs crossed?
help me out here! what are you guys doing, since you wear dresses all the time..........

I say go for it! I wear short skirts and dresses often, and I am not flashing anything (unless I want to:)

No idea, Feisty, but glad you asked. I'm breaking out the skirts this year and have wondered the same. A skirt will be lots cooler given the crazy hot temps and humidity we get here.

I had the same question. My legs don't stay as closed as they need to be while riding around in a skirt. I thought about straping them closed under the skirt but don't want a pressure sore from it. Would love to hear what others do.

I cross, and uncross a while, and cross again over the other leg....mostly crossed..I know I know..but I change them alot and wear skirts all the time..
If I would not or could not cross..then..the only solution is to wear flouncy skirts that can be tucked in a bit between the legs..and save the straight short skirts for the tights or capril leggings? :)
speaking of skirts..ebay got the best of me today!

I use skirts and dresses as often as it is hot enough. My feet are keeping together in the chair, put a short tights to your knees if you don't feel comfertable. I don't understand why the women have so wide chairs that the feet are falling apart.
I go just above the knee. for my shortest skirts, and calf length.
usually I only use the short skirts at fest, because of my leg braces. its ok to look silly at fest so I dont give a crap how it looks.
the just above the knee skirts worked ok for when I was still using a chair all the time, because the skirt may ride up a little. be careful not to get sunburned on your knees and thighs, ouch I still remember my blistered knee's!
I cant wear sexy shoes with my maffo's, but if I were in a chair more I would have some cute sandals and painted toenails with my shorter skirts as well.

Make it yours and rock it if that's what you want. Own it.

I DO tie my legs together with a cloth belt...not tight, just enough to keep them from splaying, or showing my crotch. It's easy to put on, take off, and if I'm in the skirt for hours, I can slip the belt up, or down an inch to take pressure off the same spot. If you see a picture of me in a short skirt, or dress, you can be sure my legs are belted together under it.

But back to topic here ....
My legs used to be clamped together, but a not so helpful side effect of getting my spasms under control, is that my legs are looser. I basically only wear skirts that cover my knees. I usually go for the fuller ones, but get all twisted while transferring. I will have to re-think shorter straight ones, I bet they will help with the twisting issue.

At work I avoid anything that's more than an inch or two above my knee when seated. At that point, or when I wear something shorter outside of work, I wear a pair of yoga shorts underneath. It doesn't add any "heft" to the look and provides piece of mind for those windy days...

Had not thought of this. Windy days are my nemisis. I love above knee skirts but with my gait and then holding on to the cane, I don't have another hand to lasso a skirt. It sometimes ends up above my head.
I just gave several of my skirts away because of that reason. I tend to leave them in the closet.
I especially like the lighter feeling skirts as a heavier fabric defeats the purpose of wearing a skirt to be cool in the summer...but heavier fabric tends to blow up and show the privies LOL
Gees fashion fo paux (spelling?) LOL
I do the you shorts also.

On one very windy day I tried keeping a purse on my lap, but when that didn't work well enough I resorted to gluing my skirt to my pantyhose in the ladies' room. (Had to cut up/throw out the pantyhose later.) If I knew I'd be in that situation again, I'd rig up some kind of hem on the inside of the skirt to clip on to a hidden strap.

The pencil skirt is a good solution too. It never gets caught in the wind or wheels and it's very svelte.

I wear tights with skirts or dresses, but the hemline still rides up so I just reposition when I notice and always try to wear underwear that provides more coverage like boyshorts. If I accidently flash someone when transferring, I figure the likelihood of seeing them again is pretty slim so I dont worry too much about it. Just wear cute underwear!

This thread is giving me flashbacks to a nearly horrifying episode of exposure in an early wheelchair day. I actually was headed to our rally in NYC, and I thank every force in the universe that I looked in the mirror before leaving the house and saw a straight shot up my straight skirt – almost kneelength, but in my chair at the time my knees would fall open. So now I've become a bit dowdy in long skirts, but I'm thinking this summer I might try using the strap they gave me at therapy for keeping my knees together. It's just a beige soft strap – off the roll cut to length with a little piece of Velcro stuck on so you can tighten it to varying levels. I've always worn it just above my knee, but will try it higher. But if that doesn't work I'm thinking that it showing below the skirt won't look much worse than my whole engineered set up, and certainly much better than the straight shot up my skirt.

I am a bit absent minded especially when I am at work and thinking about some technical problem. I went to cath, got my catheter, extension tube, lube pack, benzo wipe, purell out. spread the wash cloth I have over my knees to keep from getting lube on my pants. Purell hands, take out junk, benzo wipe, drain lizard, remove cath, put it back in the package (makes it easier to throw away) return extension tube, and wash cloth to my little bag, rearrange my shirt (I have to move it out of the way as well), wash hands, head back to desk. Totally forgot to put my junk back in my pants. It was mostly covered by my shirt but he was poking out like a periscope for about an hour before I noticed. Thank god I just was sitting at my desk and didn't have any meetings.

The bolded bit in particular nearly set me off on a coughing fit. (I'm just getting over a cold). :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I did this a few times when I was younger, mainly at bars when I was half hammered. It's kind of strange to have a good lookin' gal come up to you and tell you your pecker's giving everybody a free show.

Did they laugh at your shortcomings? :sorry:
I'm sure they did, but not to my face. They were polite!
No matter, it gives us a new definition for "trolling."
