What seems to be the best type of seat to use.

I have heard that the jell seat is no longer the best because it prevents air to get through.

What about using one with little bubbles all through it, I think it is called a honey something.

imo the stimulite by supracor is by far the best. its the honeycomb thing. the gel cushions are dated and we are seeing less of them all the time and they were heavy. the stimulite is very light. bout 2 pds. i dont take mine off my chair before i put it in the car its so light. the rohos, i think are so uncomfortable.
no maintenance on the stimulite. u throw it in the washer then the dryer

There is no one best cushion. The best way to determine which cushion is best for you is to have a seating evaluation by an experienced PT or OT, preferably one that includes computerized pressure measurements.

We are often surprised to find that we get lower pressures on a cushion different from the one we would have normally picked for a client when we use this technology as an adjuct to the usual evaluation of seating.

Have used a 3" thick Terpurmedic for 1.5 years. Like it a lot more than the gell or cloud cushions. Those hurt to set on.

I also do my research and try to "demo" the cushion before the purchase is made. On my last cushion I worked with a physical therapist and we decided that the front of the cushion needed to be about two and a half to three inches in height and the rear drops down to one inch. It is a "Gel" cushion and I have not had any problems. I will be getting another one shortly from the Comfort Company.
