That is true for a para who would get 1/2 off property taxes but I don't believe there is any income cap for quads to get the full exemption. Keep in mind though you must be a certified resident of Fla and not some other state to get either exemption.

Thanks Curt, I was unsure about that. So Para's only get half off property taxes in FL only if they make less than 20k, right?
Donnie, i just got off the phone with the papa office, and the salary cap for a para is $25,544 to receive a full tax exemption. or if you make more you will receive a $500.00 exemption ......quads have no salary cap........and yes two dr's letters ....
Property owners who are paraplegic, hemiplegic or other totally and permanently disabled persons who must use a wheelchair for mobility may apply for total exemption from property taxes on their home. Please submit Form DOR416 from two unrelated licensed Florida physicians to verify the disability.

Yes, for quads it's total exemption from the ad valorem taxes which is nice. But where I live, we're not exempt from this community development bond (or something like that) that we have to pay $1,200 each year for the next 25 years.

I live in Port Saint Lucie as well and the bad part about the $500.00 exemption it is not $500 off of your tax bill it is $500 of of the VALUE of the property like the other exemptions like homestede tax so basicaly they take the $500 off of tha value of the property not 500 off the ill so when it comes down to the actual numbers that 500 off only ends up being aproximatly $35.00 .
It cost me more to have the dr fill out the paper work than i could get off of my taxes..
And also it is not just what you make per year ir is also any money in the bank and other types of income. I have a rental house from years ago that with the economy gtting so bad that on paper they concider the 800 per month rent to be 9600.00 per year income , but they will not take out the 10,000.00 a year it cost to keep it up with any repairs or problems . So I can be in the hole on the property but the county says I make too much money to save the 35 bucks off om my taxes. I have had that talk with every person in the tax office even talked to th county tax collector and they think it makes sense..
But it is diffent in each county in Florida,St Lucie county i not one of them for paras..
